Q: The best deal for Cheap cars online?
Is this the best offer for Cheap cars online?
I have searched reviews and sites all over the internet and the best offer.

A: craigslist or auto trader.you’ll find cars cheaper here than you will ever looking at online auctions.

Q: Foreclosed Homes and Repossessed Cars for Sale questions?
I have a question, I live in Maryland and I am interested in buying a house and buying a car, but I see that repossessed cars and homes are cheaper. Is there a official website that I can go to so I can see the listings and prices/ does anyone have any advice on repossessed cars and foreclosed homes? I would love all the good advice I can get.

Thank you.

A: For foreclosed homes you can go to www.oreolist.com . This is a website I’m involved in so I’m what partial. I did however while compiling the list of foreclosures homes found that many credit unions have lists on their sites for repossessed cars. You might try there. Send me an email at contactus@oreolist.com and I’ll send you a list of links to all credit unions in Maryland. It might make your search a little easier.

Q: i’m looking for classic cars for sale, in particular a 1968 Camaro Z28?
Local to cecil county, maryland. I’m looking for a restored 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, 5-speed on the floor for sale. Or for that matter any classic chevrolet “muscle” cars for sale.

A: You said Chevy and muscle car in the same sentence.I don’t see the connection.

Q: Car for sale anyone??
I got my DL not too long ago and im looking for a car so if anyone lives in maryland and has a car for sale not too much $$ get back to mee!!

A: my brother has a 95 bford escort for sale for 650.00 runs great he just got a new honda

Q: I am buying a car in Maryland from a private seller. How do i get the temporary tag to drive it home to PA?
I’ve been down there once to see and drive the car. We are finishing the deal this weekend and i want to drive it home the same day, but i don’t have the title or bill of sale yet to apply for temporary tags here in PA. I can’t really afford to make anymore extra trips. What can i do?

A: have the title signed off and the bill of sale. go to the maryland dmv with your penn lic and get an out of state temp tag. should be 10 bucks or so.

Q: What are the steps I need to take to sell my car in Maryland?
Ok, I have a 2005 ford mustang v6 auto. I know the value of the vehicle and there is still a loan on the vehicle. I want to put the vehicle up for sale. What do I need to do when I sell the vehicle? How do I release the lien? Who pays the taxes on the sale? If I buy a car from VA, will I have to pay taxes on that car?
I have never done anything like this before so please help.

A: Chris,

I’ll copy in the 10 Steps for Selling Your Car that edmunds.com publishes. Their advice is very good.

Let me answer some of your specific questions.

a) You release the lien by paying off the lender and having the lender sign a release of the lien. You use the money you get from the sale of the car. You can either take the buyer with you to the lender to finalize this or you can have the buyer make out a separate check to the lender. Call your lender. They usually have clear steps to be taken.

b) Usually the buyer pays the taxes on the car and does that when he or she gets the new title. If you are just a member of the general public, you don’t have to pay sales tax.

c) If you buy a car in Virginia but live in MD, you will pay sales tax on the purchase and then get a credit against taxes that you owe when you title the car in MD. At least that is the way it works in most states.

____________

Here are the 10 Steps:

1) Is your car going to be easy to sell? Is it a hot commodity? Or will you have to drop your price and search out additional avenues to sell it?

Here are a few general rules to answer these questions:

* Family sedans, while unexciting to many, are in constant demand by people needing basic, inexpensive transportation.

* SUVs are very popular right now and often move quickly, even older models.

* The sale of convertibles and sports cars is seasonal. Sunny weather brings out the buyers. Fall and winter months will be slow.

* Trucks and vans, used for work, are steady sellers and command competitive prices. Don’t underestimate their value.

* Collector cars will take longer to sell and are often difficult to price. However, these cars can have unexpected value if you find the right buyer.

Your first step is to check on-line classified ads to see how much others are asking for your type of car. Edmunds.com Used Vehicle Locator and other Internet sites allow you to search with specific criteria. For example, select the year and trim level of your car and see how many similar cars are currently on the market. Take note of their condition, mileage, geographic location and selling price so you can list your car at a price that will sell it quickly.

2) Once you have surveyed the on-line classified ads, use Edmunds.com True Market Value (TMV®) pricing to determine the fair value of your car. Edmunds.com TMV prices are adjusted for mileage, color, region, options and condition. Once you have followed the prompts and gotten a specific price, you can also generate a “For Sale” sign. An Edmunds.com “For Sale” sign will give your price an air of authority.

There are always some exceptions to the rules of pricing, so you should follow your intuition. And be sure to leave a little wiggle room in your asking price. Ask for slightly more money than you are actually willing to accept. If you want to get $12,000 for the car, you should list the car at $12,500. That way, if you get $12,500 – great! But if you have to go lower, it won’t be a terrible loss.

You may have noticed how creative used car dealers get in pricing cars. Their prices usually end in “995,” as in $12,995. Are we not supposed to notice that the car basically costs $13,000? There is a lot of psychology in setting prices. A product that doesn’t sell well at $20 might jump off the shelf at $19.95.

On the other hand, as a private party seller, you don’t want to look like a car dealer. Therefore, you might want to take a simple approach and set your price at a round figure such as $12,750 or $12,500.

3) When people come to look at your car, they will probably make up their minds to buy it or not within the first few seconds. This is based on their first look at the car. So you want this first look to be positive. You want your car to have “curb appeal.”

Before you advertise your car for sale, make sure it looks as clean and attractive as realistically possible. This goes beyond just taking it to the car wash. Here is a to-do list that could help turn your heap into a cream puff:

* Make sure it is washed, waxed and detailed.

* Make sure your car is both mechanically sound and free from dents, dings and scrapes.

* Consider making low-cost repairs yourself rather than selling it “as is.”

* Shovel out all the junk from the inside of the car. When prospective buyers go for a test-drive, you don’t want them to feel like they’ve walked into your messy bedroom. Let them visualize the car as theirs.

* Wipe the brake dust off the wheel covers and clean the tires with a tire gloss product.

* Thoroughly clean the windows (inside and out) and all the mirrored surfaces.

* Wipe down the dashboard and empty the ashtrays.

* Have all your maintenance records ready to show prospective buyers.

* If the car needs servicing or even a routine oil change, take care of that before putting it up for sale.

* Have your mechanic check out your car and issue a report about its condition. You can use this to motivate a buyer who is on the fence.

* Order a Carfax report and show it to the buyer to prove the car’s title is clean and the odometer reading is accurate.

4) Now that your car is looking great and running well, it’s time to advertise it for sale. Traditionally, people advertise in newspaper classified ads. These ads can be expensive, but they get results. On-line classified ads, such as the Edmunds.com Used Vehicle Locator, are becoming increasingly popular. On-line ads are particularly effective with hard-to-find or collector cars. In most cases, on-line classifieds reach a geographically wider area of buyers.

Here are the main markets for advertising used cars:

* On-line classified ads such as those on Edmunds.com

* Daily newspaper classified ads

* Weekly “shoppers” and giveaway newspapers

* Bulletin boards at your office, a local supermarket or a college campus

* Word of mouth – tell your friends and family you have a car for sale

* Put a “For Sale” sign in the car window

Creativity is required when it comes to advertising. Think of unusual places to put ads (skywriting is probably too expensive), and you will get results.

One last word of advice about advertising: if you run an expensive classified ad, be sure you are available to take phone calls from possible buyers. Many people won’t leave a message for a return call. So answer the phone – and be polite. Creating a good first impression is the first step to getting buyers to come and see the car in person.

5) When creating “For Sale” signs or putting a classified ad in the paper, you have an opportunity to show how eager you are to sell the car. This can be done by inserting the following abbreviations and phrases:

Must Sell!: This often means the seller is leaving town and needs to dump the car at a fire sale price.

OBO: This stands for “or best offer” and it indicates that you are willing to entertain offers below the stated price. This usually means you are eager to sell the car.

Asking price: This also communicates the feeling that you will negotiate, but it is one notch below OBO on the eagerness scale.

Firm: This word is used to rebuff attempts to negotiate. It indicates that you aren’t in a hurry to sell the car – you are most interested in getting your price.

Think about what you are telling people when you phrase your ad. Little words convey a lot. Besides the price, your ad should also include the year, make, model and trim level of the car you are selling along with the mileage, color, condition and popular options.

6) Keep in mind that when you sell your car, people will also be evaluating you. They will be thinking something like, “Here’s the person who’s owned this car for the past few years. Do I trust him/her?” Make the buyers feel comfortable. They will probably be uneasy about making a big decision and spending money. Put them at ease and answer their questions openly.

Potential buyers will want to test-drive the car. If in doubt, check to make sure they have a driver license. Ride along with them so you can answer any questions about the car’s history and performance. Also, they may not know the area, so you might have to guide them.

There are many unexpected bumps in the road that can arise while selling a used car. These will be handled easily if you are dealing with a reasonable person. So, as you are contacted by prospective buyers, use your intuition to evaluate them. If they seem difficult, pushy or even shady, wait for another buyer. With the right person, selling a used car should be simple.

Some sellers feel uncomfortable about having buyers come to their house to see the car. However, you can generally screen buyers on the phone. If they sound suspicious, don’t do business with them. If you don’t want people knowing where you live, arrange to show the car at a park or shopping center near your home. However, keep in mind that people will eventually see your address when you sign the title over to them.

Some buyers will want to take the car to a mechanic to have it inspected. If you have an inspection report from your mechanic, this might put their doubts to rest. However, if they still want to take the car to their mechanic, this is a reasonable request. By now, you should have a feeling for the person’s trustworthiness. If you feel uncomfortable or have reason to think they will steal the car, decline the offer or go along with them.

Be ready for trick questions such as, “So, what’s really wrong with the car?” If you get this, refer them to the mechanic’s report or invite them to look over the car more carefully.

7) If a person comes to look at the car and it passes their approval after a test-drive, you can expect them to make an offer. Most people are uncomfortable negotiating, so their opening offer might take several forms.

“I like the car, but..” This is the softest way to negotiate on the price. They may not even state that the price seems too high. If they say, “I like the car, but.” and then lapse into uncomfortable silence, you might consider an appropriate response. If you really want to move the car, you could say, “How much would you be willing to pay?”

“What’s your best price?” This is a more direct way to probe the seller to find out how much he or she will come down. If you get this from a prospective buyer, don’t seem too eager to reduce your price.

“Would you accept.?” Now we’re getting somewhere. This buyer has thought it over and is making an offer. But the offer is being presented in a polite manner designed to allow for a counter offer.

“Take it or leave it.” This buyer is making an offer that supposedly leaves no room for a counter offer. In reality, this buyer might be bluffing. Still, they are sending a message that they are close to their final price. The only way to know for sure whether it really is a “take it or leave it” offer is to leave it – and let them leave. They may return tomorrow ready to pay your price.

The above are just a few of the openers you might encounter. Think of your responses ahead of time so you won’t be caught unprepared. In general, it’s a good idea to hold to your price when your car first goes up for sale. If you don’t get any buyers right away, you’ll know you have to be flexible about the price.

In some cases, you might reach an agreement with a buyer that is contingent on performing repair work on the car. This can lead to misunderstandings down the line, so avoid this if you can. The best thing to do is have your car in good running order while being fully aware of any necessary repairs. If you state clearly in your ads that the car is being sold “as is,” you can refer to this statement when it’s time to close the deal.

Still, a trip to the prospective buyer’s mechanic might turn up a new question about the car’s condition. What to do?

This must be handled on a case-by-case basis. If the repair is needed, and you trust the mechanic’s assessment, you could propose reducing the agreed-upon price by all, or part, of the amount for the repair. If the repair is questionable, but the buyer is insistent, split the difference, or have the car taken to your mechanic for further evaluation.

Remember, the older the car, the more a mechanic is likely to find. At some point, you have to draw the line. You may have to say to the buyer, “True, this work could be done. But the car drives well as it is. And the proposed repair isn’t addressing a safety concern.” After all, a used car – particularly an elderly one – isn’t expected to be perfect.

9) Rules governing the sale of motor vehicles vary somewhat from state to state. Make sure you check with the department of motor vehicles (DMV) in your state, and keep in mind that much of the information is now available on DMV Web sites.

When selling your car, it’s important to limit your liability. If someone drives away in the car you just sold, and they get into an accident, can you be held responsible? There are two ways to deal with this concern.

Once you have the money from the sale (it’s customary to request either cash or a cashier’s check), record the odometer reading and sign the car’s title over to the buyer. In some states, the license plates go along with the car. A new title will be issued and mailed to the new owner. Additionally, in most states, a release of liability form can be downloaded from the DMV web site. Fill this out, along with the car’s mileage, and mail it in as soon as the car is sold. This establishes the time at which the car left your possession.

But what if you still owe money on the car, and the bank is holding the title? One way to deal with this is to conclude the sale at the bank where the title is held. Call ahead and have the title ready. Then, once money has changed hands and the bank has been paid the balance of the loan, sign the title over to the buyer.

In some cases, however, an out-of-state bank might hold the title. In this instance, it is recommended that you go with the buyer to the DMV and get a temporary operating permit based on a bill of sale. Then, after you pay off the balance of the loan with the proceeds from the car sale, have the title mailed to the new owner. Sign it over to the new owner and the transaction is complete.

Finally, remember to contact your insurance agent to cancel your policy on the vehicle you have sold (or transfer the coverage to your new car).

Before your car drives away for the final time, take a last look through the glove compartment, the trunk and under the seats. You might find some long forgotten treasures you misplaced years ago.

10) In most states, the condition of a used car for sale is considered “as is” and no warranty is provided or implied. Therefore, if the car breaks down after you have sold it, you are under no obligation to refund the buyer’s money or pay to have it repaired. If you have sold a car to someone who took it for inspection at a garage and the mechanic found nothing wrong with it, you have done all you can to protect yourself and the buyer.

The best way to feel peace of mind after selling your used car is to make sure you did everything correctly. This means being open about the condition of the car before the sale and timely and complete in transferring DMV paperwork after the sale.

When done correctly, selling a used car can be a win-win situation. You have turned your used car into cash and provided reliable transportation for the next owner. Focus on the benefits to both parties and you are likely to have a smooth and profitable experience.

Good luck selling the car!

Q: a question for car sales men or women or anyone who knows their Sugar Honey Ice Tea?
I am getting my first car this month and i just got my license… i don’t have anyone i my family to help on this process so i am doing it on my own…i am now negotiating the price of a ford mustang with a dealer…i live in maryland and they have this thing called the no haggle price so the price of the car is listed as the invoice price which is $17,395….my first question is how much money should i try to get the dealer to knock off of the car and is the reliability rating on the ford mustang good… i really don’t what to buy a piece of Sugar Honey Ice Tea… this car isn’t really my dream car but it is a great sub … then i will like to know does this car needs plenty of maintenance… i know a little about the oil changes and tunes but does this car needs anything else and can you please add links to sites that would help with making a great choice … i really don’t want to suffer with buyers remorse
it is a 2007 the car is this beautifully red and i am so deeply in love with it and i have a nice job i don’t pay rent because i am still a student living at home with my parents so i have been saving for the past 6 months for this car when i finally decided which car i wanted i expect to but down 7500 dollars for a down payment so it will lower my monthly payments and i am financing from a credit union and my parents are going to add me on their insurance so my insurance won’t be so high because of the color of the car and my driving experience

A: I would strongly urge you to look into a Honda or Toyota.

The Civic EX is a great car and can be had for about that price. It will get much better mileage and require less maintenance. It will also hold its value much better.

Another option is a slightly used car. A 2-3 year old car with low miles (and adult owners) will save you thousands in first year depreciation. A very nice pre-owned car in your price range would be a 2005+ Acura RSX Type-S.

Q: VERY GOOD Maryland & DC car auctions?
I had a friend who had gotten a very nice 2007 BMW at a DC car auction. You know where they sale them drug dealers. But I am not sure of where any hard she is hard to contact. And the car auctions I have seen so far are on saturdays I don’t have that day off. Does any one know any GOOD car auctions like that where I can go on the weekday in the DC, Maryland area. Any address or auction name would be nice or any other info.

Thank you
In all truth looking for a good Honda accord at an auction. But any car will do.
Oh, one more thing also where not a lot of people go or would go.

A: there is an annual exotic car show.

Q: Is buying a car in a state with no sales tax a good idea?
I’m looking for a new car. I live in Maryland (5% sales tax). Nearby, Delaware has no sales tax. It occurred to me if I buy there I could save a lot of money. Are there complications with tags, registration, etc. doing this?

A: the only catch that is if you are going to re register it in maryland you might have to pay salestax anyway. thats what happens in the state of washington when someone buys a car in another state and then moves here or gets the car registered here….even if the car was previously fully paid for(messed up huh) so check with the maryland state DMV laws first! it might be easier to just buy your car in maryland. I would imagine you’ll have to pay to fully license, tag and register the car first in delaware and then repay to register, and tag in MD.

Q: Private party Sales tax for purchasing a car across state border?
I am currently living in Virginia and am buying a car from a friend in Maryland. I am moving back to Maryland in about a month. I was wondering if I should get the car before I move to Maryland because I hear Virginia’s sales tax is only 3% opposed to Maryland’s 6%? But I also wanted to make sure I wouldn’t have to pay the sales tax again once I moved to Maryland. Thanks for any help!

A: It won’t matter. When you move to MD and register the vehicle there you’ll pay the MD sales and use tax. They will give you a credit for the VA taxes paid as long as you have your VA receipt.

Q: Is buying this car against the law? This is kind of long btw….?
About 6 months ago I purchased a used car from the side of the road from a man. When I went to the MVA to register it they said it was sold to me illegally because the dealer was from West VA, and I live in MD. I had no idea it was wrong. They filed a report, and I got to keep the car. I loved the car until someone rear ended me, and now it’s gone.
I saw another car for sale on a different road so I called the number on it. It was the SAME guy! I told him I didn’t want to do Business with him because of what happened. He said this car won’t cause me any trouble because its all Maryland, where as the other one was from West VA. HE promised me this theme IWould have no trouble. It’s a great car for a great price, and I really want to buy it. Assuming that he’s being honest, do you think it would work out? Do you have any advice? Thank you in advance.

A: Ever heard that old saying…. “Fool me once shame on you….. Fool me twice shame on me”?

Move on. There are MILLIONS of cars for sale, why buy from a curbstoner/con-man?????

Q: as a car salesmen in maryland, will I lose my job if my license get’s suspended for 30 days?
I started my job today to come home and find out my license is going to be suspended for 30 days for getting 2 trafic convictions on a provisional license. im only 19. i finally get a good job and things are really looking up for me and my family, and i believe they said today at work you cannot obtain a sales license with a suspended license and i believe they said they had to fire people in the past for having a suspended license so i do not know, do you?

A: Yes, they can suspend you or fire you, but it is only 30 days, negotiate something.

Q: Buying a car in VA, titling in MD without a bill of sale – any potential problems?
Found a car that I like, that is in Virginia ( I live in Maryland). The seller is an Indian woman who bought the car for her sister who was supposed to enter the country but now can’t. Her original intent was to have her sister title the car, but since it’s not going to happen she wants to sell the car without going through titling fees just to turn around and sell it again.

Question is this – since she does not have title I am assuming that she cannot provide a bill of sale since technically she never had it titled in her name. Can I still buy this vehicle and fill out the back of the title (it’s blank besides the previous seller’s info) and have it titled in Maryland?

This is a 2001 so it fits criteria for cars older than 7 years. Additionally, in order to lessen the excise tax (6% for out of state vehicles brought into Maryland) I was going to fill in an amount slightly less than I am actually paying but that still seems reasonable – is it likely that this will fly?

A: This sounds a little fishy and I’d definitely call the MD Motor Vehicle Department (or the equivalent) and find out exactly what you’ll need in order to make your purchase legit and legal.

Hope this helps,
Justin

Q: i am going for a 10 hours amtrak, any advice?
after a trip to ohio, i am coming back to maryland. but the flight ticket was so expensive, i’d like to take an amtrak ~_~ 11hours!

any idea what should i prepare for such a long trip?
there would be food for sale on car? blanket?
please tell my laptop can be used. if not, i would be deadly boring ~_~ do i need a special tool or converter, outlet surge to plug in???

thanks in advance!!

A: The best thing to do on the train is catch up on sleep! I find it easy to fall asleep to the gentle rocking of the train. Usually it’s nice to have “forced free time” on the train. Books, crossword puzzles, they’re all good to have along. Writing can be difficult depending on how smooth the tracks are along your particular route.

A laptop is great to have along. Most cars I’ve been on in the last few years have electrical outlets in each row of seats, but in cars that have not been retrofitted, there may only be a plug-in every few rows of seats. Ask the car attendant/conductor for help in finding where one is available if you need it. I have also sometimes taken my laptop to the lounge car and charged my battery there while enjoying the scenery, then returning to my seat when the battery is recharged. You will not need any special converters or such, they are exactly the same outlets you find in any wall plug in (3 prongs).

If you’re going to watch a movies or listen to music on your laptop, you should bring earphones, for the sake of your neighbors (they may want to get caught up on sleep too).

There should be food for sale on board. There may not be a full meal service on the train (a cost cutting measure implemented in recent years), but there is at least a snack shop available in the lounge car which is open most of the time (closes during overnight hours). The snack shop food is not too great in my opinion. There is no rules against bringing your own food onboard. I would recommend bringing plenty of snacks so that you don’t have to rely on Amtrak’s food.

They may have blankets for sale on board. I bought one onboard long ago, but they may not do that anymore. I would recommend bringing your own just to be safe. The cars to seem do seem to be kept fairly cool for the most part so you will appreciate having it. Travel-sized pillows are provided during overnight hours (they have sanitary disposable covers on them). If you want one during the day, you’ll have to request it from a car attendant.

Q: How can I safely buy a used car from a private seller who is still making payments & does not have the title?
Is there a way to handle the sale so I will be protected, and if so, what is it? I have always bought new cars from large, authorized dealerships so this is the first time I’ve planned to buy a car from a private seller. I prefer not to consult a lawyer for a matter like this, but I also want to make sure my interests are protected. If it makes any difference I live in Maryland & the seller lives 100 miles away in Delaware. The seller is the original owner and her auto loan is with Chrysler Financial since it was purchased at a Chrysler Dealership. (Note: I posted a similar question two days ago but now need to rephrase my question. I welcome any answers, even if you answered my similar question on August 6.)

A: It can be done, but it’s a little complicated, and it’s going to depend on the laws in the states you’re dealing with (Maryland and Delaware). So yes, that makes a BIG difference.

It’s not a simple transaction; you’re actually talking about doing two transactions: buying ther car in Delaware, and importing it into Maryland.

First, find out what it takes to import a car into Maryland. You’ll probably need a clear Delaware title, and proof of insurance. You may need other documentation. Don’t confuse the issue for the Maryland folks, tell them you will have a clear Delaware title. Then get it.

You need to make sure the loan is paid off before you can get a clear title; it might be necessary to close the deal at the finance company, so they can be sure to get their money. Another option, which might actually be a requirement, is to have the sale done through a local (Delaware) car dealer. They will charge a fee, of course, which could be anywhere from $25 to $1,000,or more.

In some states you will need a lawyer, in some states it has to be done through a Notary Public.

On the other hand, it might actually be very simple and painless. You need to pick up the phone and ask lots of questions, and I would start with the finance company.

Great article and read about: Used Auto Classifieds

Q: Best website to find cheap auto classifieds?
I am melting my brain trying to find a good website for auto classifieds. I want the kind where private owners post their cars and try to sell them for reasonable prices. All I seem to be finding are listing from car dealerships or people asking for ridiculous amounts. I am looking for a used (possibly even dinged up) 1993 ford ranger and I am having trouble finding them on the internet for less than $3800, which of course is ridiculous because I wouldn’t pay more than than $1000 for a small, 16 year old pickup truck with 100,000 miles.

A: There are a lot of options available to you on the internet where you can buy and sell your car. Auto classifieds seem to be an ideal form of advertising where you can promote your vehicle with a detailed description with the image of your car. You can also check out Tell-N-Sell.com which allows you to post your auto classifieds for free. They publish a classified newspaper “Tell-N-Sell Shopper” which has the largest selection of Free Savannah Classified ads in the Coastal Empire.

Q: Auto Classifieds?
I’m trying to sell my Civic but right now I’m just trying some free classifieds like craigslist to sell it. But that’s about the only one I can really find that seems decent so what are some good ones you guys use? It’s a B18C1 Civic if anyone is interested also!

A: Craigslist.com is the biggest and best free classifieds. Anything else such as eBay, AutoTrader, or newspaper will cost you money.

Q: What is a good way to sell my car? Online? Classifieds?
Don’t want a lot of Spammers! Craigslist hasn’t worked. Should I try Vehix or Auto Trader? Should I use my newspaper?

A: I think you’re going about this slightly wrong.

Craigslist didn’t fail you.

What happened was you did not list the car in such a way to attract buyers. Poor title, poor asking price, something of that nature.

As an experiment, list it up, for $100. I guarantee, you’ll get tons of responses.

Ebay and CL are the two main ones. With a lot of people moving to CL.

As far as spammers, that’s just the way it goes. If you publish something publicly, people can respond to it. Legit or not.

The newspaper….is a dying breed. Sure, some people still look at it. Not a single person I know does.

Q: What will be the real purchasing costs of getting a $4000.00 used car?
I’m looking to get a used car or suv as my first vehicle – something in the $3000.00-$6000.00 range.
I’ve been looking at eBay Motors, Craigslist, Cars.com, Vehix.com online. Also, I’ve been looking in my newspaper’s classifieds and the weekly Auto Shopper booklet in my area.
It does not matter to me whether I deal with an actual car dealership or with a private owner.
Let’s say, for this question, that I’ve come across something I like that says the cost is $4000.00.
Maybe I’m too skeptical, I dunno … but would I REALLY be able to buy the used vehicle for $4000.00 or would there be additional costs that I need to factor in? (Helpful to know so I know whether or not I need to save up even more money to cover whatever undisclosed costs.)
If it matters any, I’m based out of the state of Delaware. I’ve been looking at cars/suvs in Delaware, nearby Maryland, nearby Pennsylvania, and nearby New Jersey.

Any and all expertise and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A: You will have sales tax at the rate for your area. (2.5-10%)
Title fee, insurance, tag and dealers often charge a doc fee which is just extra profit.

Q: how do I add drop down menus to my website?
this website is for a auto classifieds, so i want multiple drop down menus, like in auto trader or msn autos where in one drop down menu you select a car make and the next menu gets activated and from it you can select the different car models….(I will be using iweb, imageReady, and dreamweaver)

These sites include craigslist, autotrader, automotive, dayton daily news classifieds, and many others. are. You’re so focused on your new car that you overlook the important things.

“What?”, asked the lawyer. “How can you say such a thing?”

“My God, the cop replied, “Don’t you know your left arm was also torn off?”

The lawyer looked down at the bleeding shoulder where his left arm had
been. Oh my God!”, screamed the lawyer! “Where is my Rolex?”
The psychology instructor had just finished a lecture on mental health and was giving an oral test.

Speaking specifically about manic depression, she asked, “How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?”

A young man in the rear raised his hand and answered, “A basketball coach?”
Tom, a handsome dude, walked into a sports bar around 9:58 PM. He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV.
The 10:00 news was on. The news crew was covering a story of a man on ledge of a large building preparing to jump.
The blonde looked at Tom and said, “Do you think he’ll jump?”
Tom says, “You know, I bet he’ll jump.”
The blonde replied, “Well, I bet he won’t.”
Tom placed a $20 bill on the bar and said, “You’re on!”
Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death. The blonde
Was very upset, but willingly handed her $20 to Tom, saying, “Fair’s
Fair. Here’s your money.”
Tom replied, “I can’t take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 o’clock news and so I knew he would jump.”
The blonde replied, “I did too; but I didn’t think he’d do it again.”
Tom took the money.
A woman was having a daytime affair while her husband was at work.
One wet and lusty day she was in bed with her boyfriend when, to her horror, she heard her husband’s car pull into the driveway.

“Oh my God – Hurry! Grab your clothes and jump out the window. My husband’s home early!” “I can’t jump out the window ~ It’s raining out there!” “If my husband catches us in here, he’ll kill us both!” she replied. He’s got a hot temper and a gun, so the rain is the least of your problems!”

So the boyfriend scoots out of bed, grabs his clothes and jumps out the window! As he ran down the street in the pouring rain, he quickly discovered he had run right into the middle of the town’s annual marathon, so he started running along beside the others, about 300 of them.

Being naked, with his clothes tucked under his arm, he tried to blend in as best he could. After a little while a small group of runners who had been watching him with some curiosity, jogged closer. “Do you always run in the nude?
one asked. “Oh yes!” he replied, gasping for air. “It feels so wonderfully free!”

Another runner moved alongside him. “Do you always run carrying your clothes with you under your arm?” “Oh , yes” our friend answered breathlessly. “That way I can get dressed right at the end of the run and get in my car to go home!

Then a third runner cast his eyes a little lower and queried, ” Do you always wear a condom when you run? “

“Nope……… just when it’s raining”.__._,_.___
An American Jew enters into a bar and sees a Chinese guy having a beer. He walks over and gives the Chinese guy a huge back hander which lays the poor guy out on the floor.
“What was that for?”, says the Chinaman.
“That”, says the Jew, “Was for bombing Pearl Harbour you b******s!”
The poor Chinese guy is lost. He says “Hey wait, I`m Chinese, not Japanese, it was the Japanese that bombed Pearl Harbour.”
The Jew says “Chinese, Japanese, you`re all the same to me.” So the Chinaman gives the American Jew a huge back hander that lays him out on the floor. The Jew is shocked.
“What was that for?”
“That was for sinking the Titanic”
“The Titanic!”, says the Jew. “The Titanic was sunk by a iceberg!”
And the Chinese says “Iceberg, Goldberg, Spielberg, you`re all the same to me!”
In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

1. On Sears Hairdryer: “Do not use while sleeping.” (Gee, that’s the only time one has to work on their hair)

2. On a bag of Fritos: “You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.” (Evidently, the Shoplifters Special)

3. On a bar of Dial Soap: “Directions: Use like regular soap.” (And that would be how…?)

4. On some Swanson Frozen Dinner: “Serving Suggestions: Defrost.” (But it’s ‘just’ a suggestion)

5. On Tesco’s Tiramisu Dessert (printed on bottom of box): “Do not turn upside down.” (Oops, too late!)

6. On Marks & Spencer Brand Pudding: “Product will be hot after heating.” (As night follows day…)

7. On packaging for a Rowenta Iron: “Do not iron clothes on body.” (But wouldn’t this save even more time?)
8. On Boot’s Children’s Cough Medicine: “Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication.” (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those five-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

9. On Nytol Sleep Aid: “Warning: May cause drowsiness.” (One would hope)

10. On most brands of Christmas lights: “For Indoor or Outdoor use only.” (As opposed to what?)

11. On a Japanese Food Processor: “Not to be used for the other use.” (Admit you’re curious.)

12. On Sainsbury’s Peanuts: “Warning: Contains Nuts.” (NEWS FLASH)

13. On an American Airlines packet of nuts: “Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts.” (Step 3: Fly Delta.)

14. On a Child’s Superman Costume: “Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.” (I don’t blame the company, I blame the parents for this one.)
15. On a Swedish Chain Saw: “Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals.” (Was there a chance of this happening somewhere?…good grief)

16. On a bottle of Palmolive Dishwashing Liquid: “Do not use on food.” (Hey, Mom, we’re out of syrup! It’s OK honey, just grab the Palmolive!)

17. On a tube of Crest Toothpaste: “If swallowed contact poison control.” (Oh please have you ever heard about someone dying from swallowing a little toothpaste?)

18. On a bottle of ALL Laundry Detergent: “Remove clothing before distributing in Washing Machine.” (Hey no more swimming in the Washing Machine kids)

A: Great great great ! All of them ! Where’d you get them ?
A big Thank You .

Q: Starting side job – Freelance Excel work… How much should I charge?
I have 2+ years highly concentrated Excel knowledge. I started learning more and more at my last job, as a call center supervisor. I wasn’t able to apply the knowledge to anything anyone cared about, because it wasn’t my job and they just wanted me to focus on sales.

I am at a job now where I can use more of it, but recently started thinking about offering my services in the classifieds/ craigslist to help with the bills a little more.

Bottom line, how much should I charge, and how? Hourly, per job, per function of the spreadsheet? I have no idea what my services would be worth in the freelance world, but know that they can definitely be used.

I know my way around the following (and literally much more):

SUM
IF/AND/OR
Vlookup and Lookup
Hyperlinks
Data Validation
Auto Filter
Formula Nesting
Linking workbooks

I also take forms in doc or pdf format and put them into a smarter xls version that leaves less work for the user…

Thanks in advance

A: To consult in Excel you need to probably know more on Using Excel as a database tool and some VBA automation. You could gain experience by training people 1 to 1 and see lots of sample spreadsheets

Q: Whats the fastest way to sell my car? Craigslist isnt working?
I have a 2006 Ford Explorer I’m selling for 14,000 or best offer. I put an ad on craigslist 2 days ago and not a single person has called or emailed. other comparable cars are going for 16K or over. Blue book for private party is at 16K. Is it because craigslist people cant afford cars over 10K because they pay cash and you cant get financing if you’re looking in the classifieds? Whats the best way to sell my car ? I also listed at cars.com with no inquiries from there either.
Is autotrader or yahoo auto or ebay motors a better place to sell?
What about a used car lot – i heard they dont give good prices though.
im selling because i bought a 5th wheel trailer RV so i had to tow it with a truck. now that i have a truck, i have too many vehicles and the explorer is just sitting around collecting dust

A: 1 reason why a car wont sell is price. And sure enough, look at all the 2006 Exploders that I found for under $12k!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?lastStartYear=1981&num_records=25&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=both&distance=0&address=10001&marketZipError=false&style_flag=1&make=FORD&model=EXPLOR&make2=&start_year=2006&end_year=2011&min_price=1&max_price=12000&seller_type=b&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&showZipError=y&default_sort=priceDESC&awsp=false&systime=&rdm=1269410472695

You need to lower ur price to a more realistic one or put it on ebay and let the bidders decide.

Q: where online can i find cars for sale in georgia?
reliable car thats no more than $3,000

A: Forget the internet, your price range is a longshot, but it happens now and then…Shop local supermarket billboards and community papers…someone may just have posted your ticket

Dodge man is right watch out for flood cars, to understand what happened to the half million flooded cars – hurricane katrina… go to this webpage http://www.usedcartips.org/ and watch a 3 min video, it will blow you away

Q: Where can I find project cars for sale?
The farthest I could go is up to Harrisburg or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the west. Up to White Lake, New York in the north direction. Anywhere in New Jersey and farthest down south would be maybe Georgia. All kinds of salvage cars and projects. I’m looking for a 1967 Shelby GT500, doesn’t matter what condition. I just want that car.

A: Your chances of finding a real GT500 as a project are remote, there aren’t that many of them around and the ones that are are almost all restored already because of their value. If you do find one in rough shape, it will still be expensive if it’s complete and the numbers match, they are very valuable.

You’d be better off trying to find just a 67 mustang fastback and replicating a GT500. If you do it right it can look and perform pretty much the same as a real one, but of course it will never be worth as much. If you want it to drive and enjoy though, that doesn’t matter much. Actually you can make it better in many ways that the original by making it a “resto mod” using modern components like 5 or 6 speed manual instead of 4, disc brakes all around, EFI instead of a carburetor, things like that.

Here’s a good article on the subject:

http://money.cnn.com/2006/07/19/autos/restomods/index.htm

Sounds like a good project – good luck!

Q: what is the website for economy car sales on riverside drive in macon georgia?

A: www.economyrentacar.com

Q: Sales Tax on used cars in Georgia??
Do you have to pay sales tax on a used car you buy from a person in Georgia? Someone told me there is no tax because it is paid at the dealer by original buyer, is this true? I know it wasn’t like that in FL. Thanks for your help. Will call DMV tomorrow, but just wanted to ask here first.

A: Georgia tried imposing sales tax on private used car sales a few years ago and it failed miserably. No, you don’t pay sales tax on used cars purchased from individuals.

Q: Paying sales tax on used car in Georgia?
Quick question. I have been reading that you don’t have to pay sales tax on a used vehicle purchased from a private seller and was curious to know if that still applies if I cross the state line and purchase the car in florida and bring it back home to Georgia to register? Thanks for the help.

A: It still applies, as long as the purchase was from an individual, not a dealer.

Q: How do you like how Law Enforcement really works in Ga and its illegal immigrant population?
Today I want to focus on how SB529 is affecting Georgia and its illegal immigrant population. Two things I have personally noted since the new laws have gone into effect:

- Car sales are taking a hit now that illegal immigrants cannot get vehicle tags without proper identification.
- More ‘Now Hiring’ signs going up for local businesses.

Let’s see what the news media is reporting:

Rumor has it that many illegal immigrant families in Georgia are planning to leave the U.S. by December and it looks as if the new employee verification processes are starting to have an effect on the illegal immigration population.

Georgia businesses are starting to evaluate their hiring practices so they will be in compliance with SB529, and so their business does not become the next target on ICE’s hit list.

Also in Georgia, some local counties have taken illegal immigration matters into their own hands by requiring any company that bids on their construction projects to have legal employees. Gwinnett county has received a small backlash from business owners, but commissioners are downplaying the issue saying that most business owners understand the county’s decision.

Interestingly, big agricultural businesses who regularly hire illegal immigrants are having no problems with keeping a steady stream of employees. In fact, it has been nearly three weeks since SB 529 has been in effect, and there is still a surplus of illegal immigrant workers available to the industry.

Regardless, the new laws and their enforcement seem to be working, and I suspect the surplus mentioned above will start to dwindle as more illegal immigrants find it harder to obtain personal transportation.

Now, if we could just get the open borders advocates to understand that enforcing the law is neither racist, nor xenophobic, we’ll be in great shape…

A: our you sure the illegals are leaving the country? maybe they are just going to new haven, conn.

Q: What do I need to sell a car in Georgia?
I want to sell my car which is still being paid for and I’ve found it next to impossible to find informaiton regarding what kind of forms and documentation I need to complete. I would greatly appreciate some specific information.

I currently have it listed for sale, but if I actually found a buyer, I’d be up a creek. Obviously a standard bill of sale would be required, but would this meet all of the state’s requirements. Is this the only documentation required?

A: Remember you are talking Georgia not rocket science, You will need proof of ownership or a ‘pink slip’, you fill out the information on the ‘title’ have it notarized and you are set, the title will give you all the information you need to sell your car. Good luck…..

Q: In Florida do you have to have a title for a 1971 Dodge if you have a bill of sale?
In Georgia you only have to have a bill of sale if car age is 85 or older

A: Yes, vehicle ownership in FL is transferred by means of title, not bill of sale.

Q: What car has good gas mileage?
I’m 18 years old, and I’m looking for my first car. It will mainly be used to get home from college which is only about 30 miles away. I need a car that has the best gas mileage for the cheapest price. My budget is $2000, and of course the car will be used. I prefer a manual.

I’m not looking for specific cars (such as on craiglist), I just need the Models that are the best option. Although some specific cars for sale is cool too (I live in Georgia).

A: 1997 Honda Civic

Q: why don’t you pay sales taxes for a used car in georgia if you buy directly from a person?
I know you have to pay them in other states regardless

A: Why is that? The sales tax was paid when the car was purchased from the dealer.

Q: Is it legal to have police sirens/ lights in my car?
I found a car that used to be a police car for sale, it is repainted and legal but it still has the lights, sirens, and a PA System. I want to know if it is legal to drive around, I won’t be using it while driving I really would just think it is cool to have in there to show friends. I live in Georgia by the way.
Forgot to say, it doesn’t have the roof lights/siren it is more like an undercover cop would have with lights attached to the rear and front windows.

A: The law would probably hinge on the intent. Many people have restored antique cars to resemble old police cars , and drive them to car shows without a problem . The amount of “crap” that you could get into , will out weigh the largest amount of “cool” that your pals could show

Q: Offer to purchase car with Certified Cheque?
I live in Toronto and I posted my car for sale online and an offer from a man in Georgia is to mail me a certified cheque and have the car picked up and shipped to his cousin in Quebec. He says that he will wait until the cheque clears my bank prior to sending someone to pick it up. Wants details for cheque and mailing address…is this a scam? Do people do this? Please any advice will help…AM

A: I get those offers daily always with mispellings in them and improper english. SCAMS

Q: If I buy a car outside the state of Georgia (where i reside) will I still have to pay tax or any other fees?
I am considering purchasing a car out of state. Is there a fee in Georgia for doing so? Will I have to pay sales tax?

A: Yes, when you buy a car out of state you will billed for sales tax when you register the car in your home state. I live in Connecticut but bought a car in New York. When I registered the car at home, I paid tax on the purchase to the DMV,

Q: Should we move to Georgia from California?
We are recently retired, own a small home in So. California on a main street in a fast growing town. We’re unhappy with the fast growth, so many people, and too many cars. Because of our medical insurance and finances, if we sell our home and relocate, our only option to be closer to our kids is Georgia. We want to use the profit from the sale of our home in Calif. to pay cash for another home so we won’t have a mortgage payment. We will be going there soon to check it out. Does anyone have any advice for a native Californian about Northern Georgia? Weather, bugs, etc.? We’re looking at Cartersville and Acworth (just north of Atlanta).

A: I was born and raised in Atlanta, so I’ll tell you what I can.

By living in Ackworth or Cartersville, you should be able to avoid a lot of the growth that seems to be happening lately. I lived in Roswell and Marietta for a time, and I don’t even recognize it anymore!! It’s been a while since I’ve been up north, but that has always been a quiet part of the state.

We do have our share of cold winters, but that’s nothing compared to the muggy summers. I was stationed in California for 2 1/2 years (Vandenberg Air Force Base near Santa Barbara) and the dry heat just didn’t compare with the humidity in Georgia. Be prepared to find a pool or soak yourself with hose when May or June comes around!!!

Georgia also has it’s fair share of mosquitos (especially far from the city areas) in the summer, so it might be a good idea to keep a can of “Off” on hand.

As far as recreation goes, Georgia has plenty to offer. If you like amusement parks, look no further than “Six Flags Over Georgia”. While it’s not as pristine as Disney or other parks with the “Six Flags” moniker, there are plenty of coasters to challenge all. Stone Moutain is a great outdoor spot to spend a long weekend. Be sure to head there in the summer to check out the nightly laser show. If you are a sports fan, downtown Atlanta is the place to be. Even if you are not a fan of the Georgia teams, you can go to Turner field for baseball (one of the best ballparks in major league baseball), the Georgia Dome for football, and Phillips Arena for hockey.

There are just too many things to list, so I suggest finding a guide to downtown Atlanta to find what you like.

The people are also very friendly. I have brought many friends from all around the country to visit my home state, and each person has commented on how friendly and helpful everyone is. I’m not saying there aren’t any unsavory types in Georgia, but you will be hard-pressed to find one.

I hope this helps you, and I hope your move goes smoothly. Good luck with your endeavor, and welcome to “Hotlanta”.

By the way…make sure you head to downtown Atlanta, and grab a bite to eat at “The Varsity”. It’s right off of I-75, across from Georgia Tech. It’s considered by many Atlanta-natives to be the Mecca of fast food.

Q: I sold my car last weekend, now the guy wants his money back…?
I have read all the other questions like this and I get the same answer just about every time. But I am just being extra cautious.

I sold a 1995 Saturn SC1 last week to this guy. We negotiated a price of $775 because it needed a new radiator and a tune-up. I made sure he knew that my husband drove this car to his job everyday without problems. That the radiator needed to be changed before driving it a long way. He said ok and we made the transaction. I wrote on the biil of sale “Car is sold AS-IS” He signed the title and went and registered it. Now (a week later) he comes knocking on my door saying “We got problems.” He said he took it to a local dealership that checked it out and the mechanic says the rings are bad. He says he wants his money back or me to pay for the repairs. I told him I would check it out and get back to him. I researched it online and found that the lemon laws here in Georgia only apply to dealers and new cars. I, also found that private party sales are not mentioned in the law. I printed out the page from the GOVERNMENT website stating the law and took it to him. He says that there is another law regarding used cars. I have checked it out and found nothing. He informs me that he has an attorney on retainer and he will be contacting him tomorrow about this. I know I told him the car needs repairs and that my husband drove it with no problems. He drove it everyday! The guy test-drove the car and checked the oil and looked the car over really good and still took it home. Does he have the right to demand his money back or take me to court? Or does what I wrote on the bill of sale stand AS-IS?

A: Don’t stress about this one second. Its a $775 car.

You wouldn’t be responsible even if you had not written as-is on the bill of sale.

Don’t worry about it. Chances are any lawyer is going to tell him he doesn’t have a case except to try and scare you into giving his money back.

Don’t fall for it. Tell him to stop calling you and if he continues, swear out a warrant for his arrest,

If he has an attorney on retainer, he wouldn’t be buying a $775 car.

There are no lemon laws for private party sales anywhere in the US. AS-IS means as-is.

If you didn’t write as-is, it would still be implied.

Save your bill of sale and don’t worry about it.

If by some fluke he does sue you, dont worry. But be sure to show up in court, show the bill of sale and explain your side. I give you a 99%+ chance of winning.

If you fail to show up in court, he could win a defaultjudgmentt, which means you owe him for the $775 plus court cost.

But, I doubt he sues, Im not sure if it costs $35-75 to sue butthat’ss just good money after bad for him. He’d be an idiot to do it because he has no chance of winning unless youdon’tt show up.

Great article and read about: Car Dealerships In Maryland

Q: a car dealership sold me a faulty car in Maryland, does warranty include exchanging it for another good car?
Do I have the right to take back a faulty car when its got a one month waranty and get/exchange it for another one instead? Its the dealership fault that their car wasnt checked before selling to customers, all they tell customers is their cars are inspected and certified

A: From Marylands web site:
State of Maryland

MARYLAND’S LEMON LAW

A Guide to Consumer Rights and Remedies
When a New Car Turns Out to be Defective

Their Lemon Law applies only to new vehicles.
You probably have a 30 day powertrain warranty.
No refunds , no exchanges.
You “inspected ” it before you bought it, you purchased it because it fit your needs.
ONly thing the dealer has to do is the repairs covered under the 30 day warranty.
Better re-read your paperwork.

Q: how do i claim another car from a car dealership if they make numerous unsuccessful to repair my car?
i live in maryland,a reputable car dealership sold me a used car with warranty but the car started having problems few weeks after i purchased it,so i took it back to the dealership and its been 3 months, they have made several unsuccessful attempts to repair it,instead they have provided me with a rental.what steps should i take to get it replaced with another car?

A: Does the guarantee say that he will give you another car or does it say that he will repair the one you have?

You need to review the paperwork for the purchase of the car and speak to the dealer and see what they are willing to do.

Q: do used car dealerships give you time to get your car insured and still take the car home?
I live in maryland and I am planning on getting a car but I don’t want to have to make 2 trips to the dealership to buy the car then to pick it up because I probably would have to pay someone to take me because its far enough where someone will most likely want gas money….. I wanted to know if I could take the car home the same day without insurance and have like 48 hours to get it insured…..I live in maryland

A: Call the insurance company ahead of time. Get a “Binder” for the car. After you buy the car call the insurance back and give them the VIN, etc.

Q: dealership in maryland with a car program for bad credit no money down?
I need to find a place where i can make monthly payments but without all the extra. I have bad credit and I am not able to put alot a money down all in one payment. Where can i go in maryland or the pg or d.c county area where i can rent to own, or a car program for my situation? really in a need of a car asap thanks

A: Do yourself a huge favor finacially and find yourself a “beater” that will start every time and get you where you need to go without breaking down. You do not need to be in a dealership.

If your credit is that bad the last thing you need is a car payment. With horrible credit you can be forced to pay up to 24% in interest which is just legal rovvery. Get a second job, have a garage sale and find yourself a $1000 car that will do the job.

If you can’t do that find someone or an organization that will lend you a car or take public transportation.

Q: what is the difference betwwen the Buick Park Avenue 2000-2005… like what is the diffenence in each year?
about to purchase one but not sure which year. it would also be a big help if someone knew any websites or used car dealerships around maryland, that haves park avenus.

A: Buick is known for producing the same cars for years at a time. For example, other than some cosmetic and add-on effects, my 2000 Buick Regal is 98% similar to an 02, or 03…..And at the same time very similar to the Century from 97-05.

My assumption, based on Buick’s track record, is that the Park Avenue didn’t change much over the 5 year run. Like I said, other than some cosmetic changes, the motor, powertrain, and everything that makes it run will remain the same.

For your situation, I would just browse through different ones until you find one that you feel is best fit and reliable for you.

Q: How do you change the tags and license plate on a car?
My parents are divorced…my dad lives in Maryland and my mom and I live in New Jersey. I just bought my first car in Maryland though because my dad works at a dealership and it has a Maryland license plate. I really want this changed now that I’m back in Jersey. What are the steps to go about doing this?

A: go to the BMV with your registration.. they can help you

Q: Maryland Car Tags PLEASE HELP!!!!!?
Hi, I’m a 17 year old boy in maryland and I just got my driver’s license. I come from a poor family and we just found a car for $500 in decent condition. I am the ONLY license driver in my family and we don’t have insurance or anything. we NEED this car. the car is a black 1991 toyota celica gt btw

I called the dealership but they said that I need insurance if I want temporary tags. so my questions are:

1. how do I get the car home since it doesn’t have any kind of tags?

2. my friend has extra tags that i could borrow. what if i put those on my car until i got some tags of my own?

3. how do i get my own tags and how long will the whole process take?

4. whats the cheapest car insurance for a teenager like me? ill be the only driver on the insurance policy.

5. how long does it take to get insured? can I do it over the internet and just print out the insurance card or something?

thank you and god bless!

A: oh wow, u got a lot of questions. But I will try to help you.

First of all do you have a house that has a driveway? IF so you can ask the dealership if they could give you transporter plates, or dealer plates so you can drive it and put it in your driveway.

If ya don’t have a driveway and you have to park on the street, you have to get insurance. Look up local insurance companies, in your area, and just get the basic insurance that your state says you have to have. Tell the insurance agent you want the minimum for the care to be insured. Get some quotes on line too. In NY you can get insurance in 24 hrs, and can also have the insurance cards sent or downloaded. But I don’t know if Ct does that.

I would not do the extra tag thing cause if ya get stopped by a cop it might get complicated.

Maybe you could do that if your friend drove the car, But I am not sure about that.

Good Luck

Q: Can my bosses read my email?
I work at a car dealership in Bethesda, Maryland. Do you think my bosses can read my email? Wouldn’t you think they would have more pressing issues? And if they can read it-Hi Kevin! Hi Pete!

A: Generally, they are legally able to view emails, websites visited, etc. on their computers and networks. Whether they would is a different question – depends on how much you’re costing them. However, some employers are treating this sort of thing as ‘theft of services’ and firing or even legally charging employees who do it. Ask about your employer’s policies. Be very careful.

A: okay seen you twice have to ask you to be a contact and heres a star ********************

Q: I live in Maryland. I bought a car from a guy and the engine didn’t work what should I do?
He’s a licensed dealer but he doesn’t have a dealership. He wont answer my calls and he keep giving me empty unfulfilled promises. I really need a car too…

A: Did you have the car checked by a mechanic before you bought it? Did you ask for a warranty of some kind? Is it written down?

If you didn’t do those things, then you’re screwed. Used cars are sold “as is,” which means that it’s up to you to figure out if it’s a good buy or not. If the dealer can get over on you, he will.

But you can always tell your friends that you bought a car from the guy and it didn’t run. Nothing stops you from helping him get a reputation as a cheat, as long as what you say is true. If you make stuff up, then you’re in trouble again.

Q: What is gas mileage like on old school cars?
I’m planning on getting a old school box chevy

A: It depends on what you call old school. Some of them got decent mpg (14-20), but some of them didn’t (3-9).
A lot of it depends on how they were geared and how you drive them.

Q: Why are some guys attracted to girls in old school cars?
I own a 1965 Ford Falcon and when I cruise around, some guys give me a head knod, ask my name, want my number or buy me a drink or whatever they have to offer. But when I drive my every day car. They dont seem to car one way or the other.

Is it true about boys and toys?

A: A women that appreciates old school cars is cool, likes one of the the things that most guys appreciate. She has class and was probably taught a few things about cars and men, not a “Barbie” type. She probably won’t send you to the poor house being high maintenance. Probably won’t get caught up chasing the Joneses. She knows what she likes, is fun to be with, and is self confident.

Too bad, I am already married.

Q: Can anyone tell me if there are any old school cars that are 6 cyilender engines?
Like I know some Chevy Nova’s and Ford Mustang’s, but is there any more?

A: almost every manufacturer made 6 cyl.

Q: How do they restore classic old school cars?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattgranz/1077931998/in/photostream/

do they just rip everything out and keep the body? repaint it, and put new engine and stuff?

A: First they start with a wad of cash.

Some of these restorations call for custom made engine and body parts. The cost can run over a million bucks.

Q: Do the old school cars run in diesel?
especially the muscle cars? I’m planning to buy one

A: No, muscle cars ran on high octane gasoline. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find high enough octane gasoline to run a real muscle car without it “pinging”. The old school muscle cars had a much higher compression ratio and the lower octane gasoline would “ping” or ignite before it was supposed to. Before you buy a muscle car, find out what octane rating is recommended for it and make sure it is available in your area.

For those taking notes: The term “pinging” is used by most everyone who works on cars, it is not “a high school term”. It is used by mechanics who have worked on cars for 20 years and it is used by 20 year olds. A 1965 Chevrolet 327 cid with 350 horse power had 11 to 1 compression ratio and ran best on gasoline with about 120 octane rating, which was available at Sunoco gas stations in the 60’s… I don’t think it is available at your local gas station now. A brand new Chevrolet “crate engine” has 9.1 to 1 compression ratio and has 350 cid and 330 horse power. The higher compression ratio made it possible for the engine to make more than one horse power per cubic inch. When the compression ration went down, it was no longer common for an engine to make more than one horse power per cubic inch. This space was supposed to answer the question if muscle cars ran on diesel, which I answered and gave a very brief note to find out what octane rating was needed for the particular car to be purchased and to find out if the gasoline was available in the area. If someone wants to answer a question, answer the question without trying to attack another answer, especially if the former answer is correct.

P.S. I set the World Drag Racing Record for E/Stock Formula 2 in my 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS with a 327/350.

Q: What is the website for auto trader old school cars?

A: http://www.hemmings.com/ You should find this site great for old school cars.Best of luck.

Q: Want to rebuilt cars old school cars /customize?
I been wanting to do this for a long time how do I go about doing it I have skill but no certi or college edu just high school grad I enjoy watching american hot rod and stuff like that, that the kind of stuff i’m into can somebody help me?

A: Well, what about trying to convince a company doing this type of work to employ you?

You might even offer to work two or three days free of charge to show your abilities…

Having more experience and some idea of the business, you might be able after two or three years to start an own company, who knows…?

Q: Where can i find nice old school cars in good shape for sell at im talking about like the year 1965-1979?

A: Auto trader makes a huge classified catalog for all classic cars. Just stop in at a gas station that carries magazines and it should be there. It’s a great one.

Q: Is driving an old school car manual transmission harder than newer cars?
When I say old school i mean 1950s-1970s. Is it harder to shift in an old school car then new car?My grandpa said all his cars back then were stick shifts and he said you needed to know a technique called “double clutch” in order to drive them. He said new cars today are made more efficient so shifting with the clutch is easier.

And if the shifting technique for older cars is different, in what ways do they differ?
I’m considering getting a 1968 Chevelle 4 speed and I just wanted to know how tough that would be compared to a modern shift stick now a days.
Thanks.
Thanks for the answers fellas.

A: My experience has been that it’s easier to shift in the older cars. Bigger engines meant more torque, and combined with low ratio 3 or 4 speed transmissions, made for a much larger margin of error when trying to shift.
Double clutching wasn’t necessary, but you could use it if you missed your first shift. Just rev the engine, let out the clutch slowly, and climb into second gear.
A much funner thing to do, especially if you were driving someone else’s car, was to speed shift. No clutch, just shift by ear. At certain RPM’s, the transmission can be shifted without engaging the clutch. Find that point, and you could shift through all the gears and be flying in no time. Miss the shift at speed, and you would destroy the transmission instantly. Either way, it was always good for an adrenaline rush.

Q: What are around 5 of the most legendary old school muscle cars?
Please put the year, make, and model. Thanks!

A: 1966 to 1970 Dodge Charger with the 392 Hemi / 413 Wedge head.
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 409
1969 Chevy Camaro 396
1970 Dodge Daytona Superbird /413 wedge
1970 Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird/ 413 Wedge
1966 Chevy Corvette / 396
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge/455 Wildcat Motor
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442/ 442

Q: What are some old school cars, like the shelby GT500.?
That are cheap, well affordable, and can be suped up.

A: You wont find a GT 500 but that doesn’t mean you cant find a good deal on a cool car that will lend itself to modification. However you need to narrow your search to what you like, Chevy, ford, Pontiac…so on, you can find many good deals if your are patient. You can find mid 70s to late 80s Camaros for a good price and these cars (although smog regulated) can be modified allot. If you don’t mind four doors you can find cars that are in nice shape and V8s for fair prices too…don’t be narrow minded when it comes to a search, you wont find a ready to run GT500 or any other “muscle car” for 4 grand but you can find a used 66 mustang coupe with a small V8 or straight 6 for 4-5 grand if you look in the right places…..I recommend looking on eBay motors, under collector cars or Traderonline.com, there are tons of cars out there ripe for the picking…you just have to be creative.

Q: Wheres a good website to find old school cars for under 5k

A: There are a lot of police auction and government auction listings that sometimes show good deals on cars. Police auctions are held in every state and you can sometimes find great deals.

Q: where to buy calenders, posters, etc. of old school muscle cars..?
i love old school cars..
WHERE CAN I BUY THINGS THAT I CAN PUT IN MY ROOM FOR DECORATIONS..
I WANT SOME CALENDERS..
IS THERE A PLACE OR A GOOD WEBSITE WHERE THEY SELL LOTS OF PRODUCTS OF OLD SCHOOL CARS.

CHEVY,CHALLENGER,SHELBY GT500..ETC

A: eBay! eBay will have them, and cheap.

Q: Where’s the best place to buy old school cars, ones in decent shape?

A: The Barrett JAckson Auction………it is the best place…….if you’re loaded……otherwise there is the largest classic car auction & used parts flea market in north america just north of Toronto @ Burls Creek Family Event Park…..there is one held in the spring & one in the fall.

http://www.burlscreek.com/content.xjp?id=52

Q: Ideas of old school cars?
Hi i had a 19847 caprice classic 350 engine sold it for 800 cause i need a car with power. I was wonder if anyone could give me some ideas for a car i can buy the most of my budget is 1000. Like names of old school cars. Thank you BEST CAR IDEA GET BEST ANSWER

Q: how do I sell my car in CT, ie: registration, title, bill of sale, accepting payment?
This guy is coming to buy my car tomorow and I don’t know what I need to have ready for him. I am not even sure if I have my registration, I know I have to write up a bill of sale but is there stuff I have to do at the dmv? also is there anything I have to be carefull about if he is paying with cash? thanks

A: why not consider listing your car on this site for FREE

http://autoferret.net/selling.php?said=2226

they will also submit your listing to Google cars, and keep it listed till it sells, all for free, plus you can post up to 20 photos, and they will also match your car to a buyer in your area…
All for FREE, cant beat that, Good Luck…

Q: Private Car Sales in Connecticut?
When I sell a used car in CT as a private owner, is the car sold as is or am I liable for any problems they have within a certain time period? If so what is the time period? Anybody know what the law is, I couldn’t find anything.

A: The car is pretty much sold as is from what I hear.

Q: Do I need to pay Sale tax and Use tax for my leased Car in CT ?
I was in CT last year and moved to OH. As soon as I moved my car leasing company ( GMAC ) increased my monthey payment by $20 as Sales Tax. Now I got a letter from them that I have to pay used tax and wanted to send them $250 . I dont live in CT anymore ..

I leased my car from IL and I think they took tax when I leased it . Not sure these sales tax and use tax in CT . Your help is really appriciated

Thanks
Prince J
hi oklatom,

As I leased my car from IL , there is notin abt this use tax and sale tax.Its a CT law !!

A: Every state sales & use tax is slightly different but they all have a common theme: you have to pay sales tax, but if you don’t pay sales tax then you have to pay use tax.

You never have to pay both sales tax and use tax on the same transaction.

This I know from working many years in corporate state & local tax compliance.

Most likely, the GMAC lease will specify that they can collect from you whatever sales/use/property tax they have to pay. It’s a standard thing for these big car leasing companies.

Thing is, if GMAC paid more tax than was due, they can get a refund from CT. But nothing in your lease contract prevents them from collecting it from you.

I learned this when GE Auto Leasing billed me for property taxes on a lease a few years ago. I disputed it and we went back & forth for a while. Ended up paying because I needed my credit report cleared to refi the house.

So, GMAC might not be exactly the same as my situation, but I’d bet $10 it is.

Sorry that probably doesn’t help you decide what to do. $250 isn’t worth a lawyer unless you’re in one of those pre-paid legal plans.

Q: I purchased a vechicle without getting the title, is this a bad idea?
I live in CT and purchased a car from a NY state dealer. Since I purcahsed the car after the DMV was closed for the day, the dealer told me they would have to overnight me the title by mail.

Was it a wise decision to purchase the car from them without giving me the title directly as I gave them the money (check)?

I have:

The car
Bill of sale
Odometer reading statement
New York State “In-Transit” registration
Insurance card (car is insured by me)

I’m not doubting that the dealer will send me the title, but I am just preparing for the worse (they don’t send me the title). Am I the rightful owner? Was it wise to do this? Is this standard practice?

After 30 days the temp registration is up and I can’t even drive the car anymore! I need the title in order to register the car in CT!
It’s a reputable Ford dealer…been around for 50 years.

My only guess why this happened is that they usually deal with people from NY who want to buy vechicles…so NY DMV does all the paperwork. In this case, I have to do all the paperwork since I’m registering at CT DMV.

A: JUDGING BY WHAT ALL THEY GAVE YOU I DONT THINK THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF… BUT IF YOU DONT RECIEVE THE TITLE JUST CONTACT THE DMV, OR COUNTY CLERK AND FIND THE STEP TO FILE FOR A LOST TITLE..

Q: Unbuilt Kit Cars.?
I’m looking for a kit car- the kind you build and drive, often with a replicated car in modernized technology, and I’d like an unbuilt one, so I can learn more about the car and get a nice summer project. Most of the sites I’ve found are just prebuilt cars for sale out of kits, and I don’t want that. I’m in the New Haven, CT area, if there’s anyone with these cars for sale or a dealer.

Jess

A: There are a lot of kit car makers out there – Factory 5, Superformance just to name 2

This is a VERY steep hill if you are just learning about cars. And, its more than a summer project. Kit Cars come with about 75% of the things you need to make a car. You still need to supply engine, frame, transmission, differential, and many small parts.

They do not just bolt together either. You need to actually build the suspension. Parts often need to be modified or adapted – even the ones they send. Body panels need to be honed and aligned before fitting to frame.

If you are trying to learn about cars, this is not a smart move. PLus, its a very expensive move.

Your best bet to learn and have fun this summer is to get a beater car – something that may not be terribly desirable so y ou can get it cheap. Then buy the shop manuals for that car, and set about repairing and rebuilding it. You will have just as much fun, probably more, and actually learn more than trying to assemble a kit as a novice.

Good luck

Q: Looking to buy an integra for my first car?
Well i’m looking at several different integras. I am really liking the GS-R. bbut if not, i’ll be fine with the LS and probably just engine swap it. Well which of the following would you recommend? :

i know like 2/3 of the cars don’t have prices =[ but which one looks in mint condition? please help! thanks :]

A: I know what you want to hear, but I’m not going to tell you that. Which car you should buy depends completely on the quality of the vehicle, mechanically as well as physically. Integras are old, no doubt about it. They’re great cars, but they’re still old, and are bound to have problems since it’s almost 2010 and they haven’t been produced in years.

Look at all of these cars and find the one that is mechanically in the best shape. An engine swap is really a pretty silly idea. It will cost you thousands, more than any of those cars are even worth. Go to the dealers, talk to them, find one you trust, find a car that is actually a solid vehicle, then worry about modifying it.

All that said, for older vehicles, Integras are very nice cars, and have decent potential if you’re interested in speed, which it sounds like you may be.

Q: Military auto sales tax in MA and RI?
I know when I buy a car in CT my sales tax is 4.5% for Active Duty. In SC it’s 0%. Does anyone know what it is in MA or RI? We live close to both, so if it’s less than 4.5% we may take a drive to buy a new car!

Thanks!
If it doesn’t matter, then how come when I bought a car in SC and still registered it in CT, I payed the SC rate of 0%?

A: Actually, it doesn’t make any difference… you pay tax based on the state and county you will register the vehicle in, not where you buy it. Dealers will look up whatever it is and charge tax accordingly, usually from the address on your driver’s license.

Additional detals… if you payed the 0%, someone screwed up, as rest assured your home county and state want to collect that tax. You may have gotten away with something, and once the dealership figured it out, the decided you were too far away and just ate it, as it was their mistake.

Q: Out of state car CT RI Pleas help?
Okay so I want to buy a car in Rhode island and I live in Ct. I just went to the dmv and got the bill of sale and the registration of a motor vehicle and application for a certifcate of Title now once i fill these were do i send them and then how long till i get my title Please help also if i am missing something or need something plz help i believe i will have to go there 2 once for the 2 forms i have picked up and the 2nd time to pick up the car

A: once you have the title & bill of sale from person you bought car from and your insurance card, bring that paper work to dmv office they will issue you a tempory tag good for 30 days then you need to bring the car to a ct dmv inspection station to be checked out if all ok then you go back to dmv office and get your real plates.after all this they will send a new title to you in your name. good luck lot of running around to do.

Q: My car was engulfed in flames today, the front end sawed in pieces, the windshield and two front windows .?
bashed in, and an axe put to certain parts of the engine by the firemen…Is it still salvageable???
Or should I start looking for a new one now…
Anyone in CT with a car for sale??
Do you think this was a bad way to try to pick up firemen?

A: Well, it was the fireman who sawed up the front and bashed in the windows and put an axe to the engine. I think they are responsible for fixing your car. Property damage court is a much better way to pick up firemen as they aren’t preoccupied with putting out a fire at the trial hearings.

Good luck with that.

Q: Whats the lemon law on used cars like in CT?
I recently purchased a vehicle for $4600 from a private owner. On the bill of sales he wrote “as is”. Before thirty days the transfer case locked up, causing the drive shaft to snap, and the rear end to fall out of the car. Turns out whoever put on the transfer case did it wrong and i’m looking at $1000 worth of damage. I asked the guy who sold it to me to pay for it and he said he has no obligation because he sold it to me “as is”. Is he right, or does he have a legal obligation to pay it?

A: there are no lemon laws for used cars, in any state, and by definition you do not have a lemon as is is exactly what it means, you do not mention the other important information like make model or year, if this car is more than 15 years old, (which I am sure it is) it would be completely unreasonable to not expect any problems, so LOOK in your wallet, there is your grand, I emphasize with your unfortunate problem, no one installs a transfer case incorrectly, but it happened. Legally you can sue the guy in small claims court, but even the judge will recognize used cars are an as is deal no matter what.
and I am not trying to judge your mechanical ability, so don’t take what I write next personal.!!. My suggestion in the future, is take the car to a good mechanic before you buy it . it is possible, that this problem may have been caught before it self destructed. I had two sisters, who knew nothing about cars, one was too BUSY to check the oil, and kept blowing up motors. I found her a car one time, I had a friend agree to do a complete mechanical inspection we WERE AT THE SHOP, MY FRIEND WAS DOING ME A FAVOR, FOR FIFTY BUCKS HE WAS GOING TO DO THE WHOLE NINE YARDS, ENGINE AND TRANNY DIAGNOSTIC, COMPLETE BUMPER TO BUMPER INSPECTION, ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS WAIT 3 MINUTES BUT NOOOOO she thinks she saved 50 bucks, and decided to buy the car. and just drove off, not even saying anything to me.
a short time later, the front end fell apart, and when she contacted the owner, they confessed that the grandson had launched the car across some ones corner yard, but since they were selling it, thought it was ok?? it was not my mechanic friend would have caught all the destroyed motor and tranny mounts, that were hanging in pieces. so 2200 bucks later, (my tightwad sister saved 50 bucks!!) six months later, I spent several hours trying to talk the other sister out of another front wheel drive pile of crap. I almost begged her to do one thing, to this used car, take it to a transmission shop, and pay for a 50 dollar fluid and filter change.(BUT NOOO SHE WAS ANOTHER TIGHT WAD, WANTING TO SAVE 50 BUCKS!!!)
SHE buys the car, and less than a month later, a 2,700 dollar transmission self destructed, and of course when the mechanic took the pan off (which was what I wanted done.BEFORE TIGHTWAD BOUGHT THE CAR) IT WAS PACKED FULL OF METAL, AND HAD BEEN COMING APART FOR LONG BEFORE SHE BOUGHT IT. sometimes those mechanical inspections can save a ton of money, and the other reason I use them, is I will negotiate the price of the car DOWN TOO! this ones on you, but now you know what you have for a transfer case (a good one now) it happens wildman, no one put it together wrong on purpose .

Q: Bought a new car in CT last month and just moved to MA last week – Registering and sales tax?
Hi – I bought a car ($20,000) in CT in March 2010 as a CT resident and paid the difference in sales tax ($300) from my trade in value ($15,000) from which I had already paid sales tax. I just moved to MA last week and want to get a license and register my car with my new address. From reading the MA RMV website it says that any new vehicle purchased within the past 6 months, I will have to make up the difference in the sales tax of 6% CT vs 6.25% MA. Question is, will I have to pay the additional .25% on the $350 sales tax I paid in CT for the difference of my trade-in ($5,000) or pay the full 6.25% on the $20,000? OUCH! Thanks!

A: Ma should give you credit for the tax you paid to Ct.
Ct. will send the money they collected to Ma so You will pay the 1/4 % on the $5,000.

Q: Sales Tax and Registration for purchasing a car in CT?
I am looking into buying a used car from a small automotive shop and was wondering what price I am looking at for sales tax and all of the registration fees (I am unsure if they can do all the paperwork and want to be prepared if they cannot, and make sure I am being charged correctly if they do). The vehicle is priced at $7,995
I found that the sales tax is 6% but I am unsure of what fees are included with the registration. If someone has any idea please help. I have been to the CT DMV website however it is very confusing

A: If you are getting a new tag, count on it being approx. $200-$225. Tax should be around $480. Hopefully you already have your insurance in place, cuz, they will want to see a binder. Good Luck!

Q: Sales Tax on car received as gift in CT?
My friend is leaving the country for good and he is willing to give me his 13 year old car for free. I have purchased insurance for that car. Now I would like to change the title in my name. Also, I don’t have spare plates so I need to register the car. In doing so do I have to pay sales tax to the DMV even though I did not pay my friend any money? I am in the state of Connecticut. I raise this question as I heard in NJ if you receive a gift, you do not have to pay taxes, even from someone out of your family.

A: There is a method to transfer vehicles between family members tax free, see http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=810&Q=245084&dmvPNavCtr=|27892|#27897

But since this is a friend, This doesn’t apply, and the rule becomes this:

The taxable price is based on the total considerations (cash, property, services, assumption of seller’s debt, etc.) in the transaction. Hence if a vehicle is purchased through other considerations besides money alone (such as through service provided to the transferor), the transferee is taxed on the book value of the vehicle.

You will pay taxes on the book value.

Q: CT bought car for 2,000. Drove it for less than a week and the water pump and head gasket went. What do I do?
I bought a car for $2,000 from a private dealer. I had to pay sales tax up front, if that matters. I drove it for 4 days then the water pump and head gasket went. This is the only car I own and I cant go buy another one. I live and purchased the car in CT. I’m stuck, it costs 1800 to get it all fixed but I feel like I am being cheated. What can I do? (legal rights? lawyers?). Please any help at all. Thank you
It was looked at by a mechanic, but you cannot see the head gasket from a simple inspection
Bought from a dealer.

A: You have a legal right to fix it. You also had a right to have a mechanic go over it before you bought it. There is no such thing as a “private dealer”. They are either a private individual or a dealer.

Q: Bill of Sale for New York State?
I am soon moving to New York State. I currently live in CT and bought my car here 4 years ago. I found most of the necessary documents for proof of ownership. However, I don’t have an official looking bill of sale. Can a bill of sale for New York State be the dealer’s proprietary form as long as it has the necessary information (VIN, make, my name, price, odometer reading, dealer’s info and signature, etc)? Or do I have to get an official version some how??

Thanks in advance!

A: You don’t need anything but the registration or current CT title showing you as the owner of the car. NY will then register the car and reissue an NY title to you (or to your lender).

Q: I sold a used car in Michigan with an “AS IS” Bill of Sale. Can buyer force me to refund their money?
I told the buyer he couldn’t test drive the car because of no license or insurance. He said “OK” and bought the car. Sale price was under $500. I told the buyer that the car had not been driven or started for 6 months and the only thing I knew that was wrong was it needed a tuneup and that the AC didn’t work. The car is a 1992 Olds with 222,000 + miles on it. I typed out and both of us signed a Bill of Sale stating “AS IS” – no warranty expressed or implied. Buyer did not get the car home-transmission leaking through front seal. Now he wants his money back. Am I legally liable? Also, can you legally test drive a vehicle with no license or insurance in Michigan? Thanks!

A: I AM FROM MICHIGAN AND HAVE BOUGHT/SOLD MANY VEHICHLES, THIS BILL OF SALE IS BINDING ON YOUR PART. YOU WON’T HAVE ANY LEGAL PROBLEMS THOUGH HE MIGHT TAKE MATTERS IN HIS OWN HANDS.NEXT TIME RECORD THESE PROBLEMS ON THE BILL OF SALE FOR MORE EXACT UNDERSTANDING. AND NO ! YOU CANNOT LEGALLY TEST DRIVE A VEHICHLE WITHOUT PLATES/INSURANCE. ITS THE LAW!

Q: Does anyone know where I can find an ex michigan state police car for sale?
I am willing to drive to get it in michigan . I live in NY.

A: How many do you want? I can get you whatever you want.

Q: No title cars for sale in Illinois?
Ive been lookin for a beater to fix and drive since i dont have alot of money, but it seems like alot of them are being sold without titles. Is it easy to get a title for a car like these? In michigan i could file for a “lost title” and get one with just a bill of sale. Does it work like that here? I just moved here.

A: What I assume is that you are looking at really old cars that maybe have been sitting for a long time. What you need to do is get the serial number and get the DMV to search their files. That should tell you if there are prior owners or more importantly liens. If there is no record found you can try to register it as a no title car. If there is a record you need to try and contact the registered owner. If you can not find him then you need to do a lien sale. Just pretend the car has been abandoned on your property and go from there. If the seller is the registered owner then you can get him to sign a request for duplicate title form and transfer it with that and a bill of sale.

Q: does any one who lives near detroit michigan have a car for sale that is under 1,000 ?
a car that is in good condition and looks nice. this is for a 16 year old girl. and it runs great. that needs no work done.

A: hunny you won’t get anything like that for $1000. Probably a 1990 BMW 3-Series which won’t last for long..

My cousin in Detroit bought an Infinity for $9000. Mabey you should work a bit or something..

Q: I currently sale cars, I have been wanting to get a dealers licence for a while but I dont know the steps?
How. Is there anyone that could point me in the right direction? Oh I also live in Michigan.

A: You need to contact your State office of Dept. pf Motor Vehicles, ask for the dealer support desk and find what the qualifications are.Usually you have to be bonded and cover insurance with a $300,000 liability policy and the state fees.If you have never done this you are entering the twilight zone I would work for independent dealer first to see how hard and tough it really is,good luck.

Q: Where can I list my car for sale online for free in michigan?

Q: Does Michigan have a cooling off period for a new car sale?
My 77 year old father moved to Michigan and lives alone. He bought a new jeep and for no reason traded it in on one 6 mos. new, same exact color and everything. We later found out he had a seizure and memory loss and was hospitalized in a pysicartic ward for a few weeks. He is much better, but not totally mentally stable. He just went and bought another new jeep, traded in the 2nd one with only 400 miles on it. The dealer only gave him $2200 and he still owed $2400. He had free financing on the one he traded in, but not on this new one. He called up one day after he got it and asked to bring it back and they told him no, they already filed the title. What can I do to make them take it back and not cost him a lot of money, which he does not have?

A: >>Does Michigan have a cooling off period for a new car sale?<<

Yes, it’s called January… (Dang it’s cold here!!!)

Q: i would like to know do anyone have a nice car for sale in the state of michigan? If so at a cheap price.?
im looking for car within the price of 500 to 1000 dollars. It have to be in good coundtion to drive back and forward. Not thing that is to big and not to same just right. how about something for a girl thats just finishing high school. thank you so much for at less reading my question.

A: Yes. I do. I used to live in Michigan and still own my car which sits with family. Answer me back if you interested. You can have it for $500

Q: Do I have to pay California sales tax for a new car purchased in Michigan?
I am purchasing a new car in Michigan, but will be moving to California immediately after buying the car. I’ve heard that I might have to pay California sales tax on the car if I bought it within 6 months of moving. Does anyone know if this is true?

A: I think that may be true unless you have mileage over a certain amount. I know it used to be 7000 miles.

You can research at http://www.dmv.ca.gov/

Q: Anyone in Michigan nr. Oakland County with a car for sale?
I live in Oakland county, is there anyone from this area that have an old car that runs but is just taking up space that they want to get rid of? Or planning to give to charity? I have roughly 6 or 700.00 bucks. Ineed it to getm e thru the winter.

A: Try placing a want add on craigslist.org in your area. This is probably not going to help you out much.

hope That Helps

Q: Escrow service for private party out of state used car sale?
I’m in California selling a Mustang Cobra, The buyer is in Michigan.
I have heard of escrow services that act as a neutral 3rd party, holding the title and payment until the sale is completed.

Can someone explain this process and maybe recommend an escrow service ?
Dude, I’ll be arranging it. It’s done with ebay sales on a regular basis to avoid scams.
I didn’t say it was an ebay service, I said it’s done with ebay sales, those who buy and sell on ebay commonly use a 3rd party escrow service.

A: Dude, I’ll be arranging it. It’s done with ebay sales on a regular basis to avoid scams.
———–

This is news to Ebay. They don’t have their own escrow service.

Coincidentally, people get scammed on a regular basis. Hmmm.

Q: If I buy a new car in MI,is sales tax 6% of the difference between new car price and trade-in car value?
I somehow remember they passed some Senate bill on March saying now trade-in value is applied to the calculation of the 6% sales tax when a new car is bought in Michigan. In other words, if I buy a new car in Michigan, the sales tax I need to pay is 6% of (new car price – trade-in value), right? Thanks for ur answer

A: In most states you pay taxes on the NET sale amount.

For example,
new car is $20k.
Trade in allowance 10k
Payoff existing loan $5k
Net trade in allowance= $5k
Taxable net sale= $15k

Q: No Title….Michigan Resident?
I live in Michigan. I see a lot of cars for sale that have no title. Many say they are clean title and come with bill of sale. What do I have to do to get a title? Can I get one? The secratary of state here says without title, no chance of getting one. I dont believe that. There must be some way. Thanks for any help.

A: SOS in Michigan is not easy to deal with. Any car in sold in Michigan should have a title, or the current owner should be able to get one, unless theres something fishy. I’ve owned cars as old as ‘67 and always had a title. It’s a big risk to buy w/o title.

Q: No Title….Michigan Rules?
I live in Michigan. I see a lot of cars for sale that have no title. Many say they are clean title and come with bill of sale. What do I have to do to get a title? Can I get one? The secratary of state here says without title, no chance of getting one. I dont believe that. There must be some way. Thanks for any help.

A: Cars came from other states – possibly Katrina flood cars or stolen.

Q: Michigan Private Used Auto Sale Laws?
Anyone know what the law would be for my situation. I’m in Michigan, and I purchased a 2002 Kia Spectra from a woman who told me everything on the vehicle was great except the transmission. So, I purchased it with the expectation that the transmission needed replacing, but everthing else was fine. I got 10 minutes from the woman’s house with the car, and it lost power, it overheated, and the radiator blew about 3 minutes after I got on the highway with it. I left it on the side of the road because it wouldn’t start back up. She tells me it isn’t her problem, it’s mine. Do I have any legal recourse against her? I drove the car just 10 minutes!

A: Yes, but since it sounds like she is not cooperating I would recommend that you speak with a lawyer – at the least you should look into filing a cause of action – which you can do on your own, but it would be easier to have a lawyers help.

She made a promise to you when she sold you the car – and clearly she was not being truthful – this is fraud and breach of contract – it is horrible that she won’t cooperate, sorry to hear about your situation.

Q: Problems after used car sale. Seller liable? ?
What I’m hoping to find here is perhaps someone who has experience with laws regarding used auto sales, particularly in the state of California.

I recently sold a used car (2000) to someone. The person saw a photo and description on-line, then came to see the car in person. He test-drove the car, and then decided to purchase the car.

Later that day, he claimed the car was driving roughly and that the car had front end problems. We had experienced no such thing and hence, it wasn’t in our description. He claimed a mechanic gave him an estimate of $600 to fix the struts. I offered to pay half out of kindness only, as we hadn’t had any problems with it.

He later said that wasn’t enough, and that another mechanic told him there were more problems.

I think he’s lying at this point and he’s claiming he wants to go to court. I told him he should have had the car inspected professionally if he was going to make demands for money. I simply wouldn’t have sold it to him. To me, it’s a used car… and used cars need things replaced. (I’ve bought many.)

So, regardless who is “right” here… my question is one of liability. What liability to I have for repairs after someone test-drives my car, buys it, gives me money and signs the paperwork? Specifically, if anyone has knowledge of California law, it would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!
The ad for the car did not state that any warranty was included. (I’m a private party.) I didn’t write “as-is,” but I assumed all p2p private used car sales were as-is.

A: If the vehicle was sold with no warranty, “as-is”, or “with all faults”, you have no obligations towards the buyer.

Q: trying to find used jeeps for sale?
used autos for sale

A: If you would spend a few minutes of your time doing your own research on the Internet, you’d probably find dozens of sources for what you want.

Q: Does anyone know of a place, that has (used hub caps) for sale in the Plainfield, Joliet IL.or 60446 area!__ ?
They usually, have stores, that deal with this product only! I lost mine and a new one from a dealer costs $85.00.I am new to the areas I mentioned and cannot find any outlet in the telephone directory!! I looked, under used auto parts!! Thanks, Bud

A: Try this place:

Al’s Garage & Auto Salvage
(815) 467-5289
24804 W Eames St, Channahon, IL 60410

Q: Question about those used car sale events?
Have you seen those ads about used auto car events? You know they advertise that they will be in a mall parking lot, or inside your local event center? They are usually aired on TV. Well in my local town we usually have these events by the same auto dealerships in our local expo center. What they claim is that $99 will be your down payment and $99 will be your monthly payment etc. Do you think they can work with people with little or not credit? Because I need a new car and I really am not picky about the age or anything. I am 19 and I barely started working again last month, and I have two good paying jobs. So what are my chances on getting in on these special financing deals they talk about? You know $99 down and $99 per month.

I have some money for a cheap car but I suppose I should try my luck there and build my credit since I only have internet and cell phone in my name. Any advice or warnings?

Thank you.

A: Everything – and I mean EVERYTHING – is OAC (On approved Credit).

Sure, you can gt a car with $99 down, if you credit is approved that way.

Yes, you can have a $99 payement, with sufficient down payment, on a cheap enough car, and credit approval.

With no real credit established, the $99 down payment is not happening. You need some skin in the game to get car credit approved. You will also need a cosigner to get any approval whatsoever. The $99/mo payment will happen if you have a good bit of cash to put down, AND the cosigner.

Q: What is the best way to sell my car? Best Online site?
I want to get as aggressive as possible selling my car. I listed it on craigslist as a start, and I am now looking for the best way to list it on other sites. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best site to list on? Which site has the most success with used auto sales?

A: Ebay is the best, but it cost $40 to list and $40 when it sells, a good free one is craigslist.org

Q: As anyone used Auto Speditions to buy a used caravan?
Auto Speditions act as a third party to sell a used touring caravan – Originally they wanted the money wiring to them before they delivered the caravan but now theyve agreed half before and half after the sale completes. You track the delivery using a tracking number on their website and normally i’d warn people away from sending money first but what if this is genuine??? People are having items repo’d all the time and sold for a pitance – has anyone else bought a caravan this way???

A: sounds dodgy to me . stay away .btw its Has .

Q: What is the best website to get a legal car contract to use for an auto sale?
Any sites that are legitimate and provide good contracts? Thank you!

A: If you mean a Bill of Sale, just write up one stating the date, the vehicle description, VIN number, mileage, sale price, names and signatures of buyer and seller.

If you are thinking about selling your car to someone and accepting payments, DON’T DO IT. There are hundreds of horror stories on this answer board of people who did it, and now regret it.

Q: What is a good website to use to find out information regarding selling a used auto to a Canadian?
We have a vehicle for sale. A Canadian wants to buy it.
What legal hoops will we have to jump through? What resources are out there for us to find out this kind of info?

A: I don’t want to ruin your sale but well its really up to the buyer to do all the researce. Once he does It might not be worth it to him unless its something rare or special. Us car will have to be converted to canadian standards as well being taxed as a import and have to be processed at us and canadian customs. The total process can take a while.

Q: game used or auto baseball cards for sale or trade?
if you have any baseball cards that u want to sell or trade contact me with this email:

shawngreen1520@aim.com

A: If you want to buy cards try ebay or craigslist.

Q: I need help finding auto sales used car laws.?
My husband and I purchased a used car a few months ago. We asked for a carfax report on the vehicle and we were told that the vehicle had had no accidents. We received a post card in the mail from another dealership that would offer us top dollar for our car. We figured “Why not” we are having a little financial difficutly. Brought the car there and found out that our vehilcle was in a car accident and the value of our car is about half of what we purchased it for. What I need to find out is what can we do. The car was sold with a warranty not as is. We don’t want a vehicle that has had front end damage in the past. We never would have purchased this vehicle had we known it was in an accident. I am looking for any type of laws for this or what we can do.

A: Laws vary from state to state and it appears you were deliberately mislead. The best way to find out about car laws in your community is to talk to AAA (if you aren’t a member you should be) they are the best source for vehicle code anywhere. They will tell you what your rights are and if you have a case before you throw thousands at a lawyer. GOOD LUCK!

Q: Does the box have to be marked off on the Buyer’s Guide for a used auto purchase for it to be an as is sale?
I need a professional opinion. Me and my fiance have been searching all over. I found many sites that posted the box has to be marked either “As is” or “No Warranty”. We’re wondering because the sales rep just had him initial above the “As is” box. Would that hold up in court or do we have a case since he didn’t technically check off the box. There’s some other things he didn’t do like his math is horrible. He’s nearly $1,000 off in the balance. And he sold us gap insurance which I was told we didn’t even need. It was just something they sell to make more money on those who don’t know any different. Can you help us. Do I have any kind of case? Because if we would have had the warranty like the dealer gave to us and took away we would still have our car and be making payments. No thanks to him, we lost our job due to an infuctional vehicle, lost our car due to lack of funding and had to move out of our place. Now thankfully we’re back on our feet and have a home and new vehicle. But my fiance has bad credit and we were scammed. Any suggestions. We’re hoping they sue us soon so we can take them to a legal court room and get the money back we so deserve. Any suggestions on getting them to sue sooner?

Thanks.

Lisa
Actually it was there fault. Within a month or so the radiator and the transmission to the car failed. I’d say that they knew about this and didn’t care. For $10,000 that’s pathetic. I now have a car I only paid $900 for. We only had to do minor repairs so far. Crossing my fingers. But I guess I will have to chuck up a loss and say I will only deal with independant people from now on. That just sickens me. And you sir, I assume from your total lack of regard and respect for the common man or woman must be a car dealer rep yourself. How do you sleep with yourself at night doing this to innocent people?

A: Initialing the box is all that’s needed. It doesn’t have to be checked off. By initialing it, the buyer states that he/she fully understands the car is being sold as-is.

Burden of proof is another thing. You’ll need to be able to prove the dealer knew about the defects and hid them from you for you to have a case against them. That is very difficult. And that’s where a lawyer comes in. You should consult with one to see if you have grounds for suing them.

Q: Need a catchy slogan!?
Me and a friend are in the process of opening up a used auto sales business. Everything is complete and just waiting for the license to show up in the mail. However, I decided it would be nice to have a catchy slogan but cannot come up with anything. I figured with as many people we have out here in cyber land someone was bound to come up with something good. We will consider any and all responses. *Few things to note about the cars we will be selling. 500.00-5000.00 range on pricing. Trying to keep affordable cars for the average person. We also have interest in just about everything so we are thinking of telling people that we will accept just about anything for trade as long as we do not have to feed it…lol We both have full time jobs so it is not just for the money but as a hobby as well. Thoughts? Suggestions?

A: why walk–let’s talk

Q: Does Yahoo Autos hold money for a used car buyer till he gets the car from the seller?
I was looking through used car sale and found this individual dealer on Cars.com. The price seems cheaper than other cars, so I sent him an e-mail saying I am interested in. In the e-mail, I, however, showed my worry about the credibility of the transaction, and then he said,
“The sale will be managed through yahoo autos company under their vehicle purchase protection program since they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability during online transactions. They act as a neutral third party. Here is how the process works:

- you have to give me your full name and shipping address,
- I will start a transaction on yahoo autos company,
- they will send you the invoice with the payment instructions and transaction terms,
- you will send the first payment to yahoo autos trust account – half of the price,
- they will confirm me that they received and secured the funds,
- I will ship the car immediately after the first payment is received by yahoo autos company ( I will pay the shipping ),
- in two days after I will ship the car you must send the balance to yahoo autos,
- you will receive the car between 5 and 7 days from the shipping date, inspect it and if you decide to keep it they will release the funds to me ( they will send me the money ).

They will hold the money until the car is delivered to you. You will have 10 days for inspection. If the car is not like described you will have to ship it back in 30 business days on my expense, but I am sure that you will love it.
If you agree please send me your full name and shipping address. Yahoo autos company will get in touch with you for further details and instructions after I will start the transaction.”

Is this a fraud? or is he telling the truth? I’m not so sure, because I haven’t bought a car online.

A: Why are you so gullible????

This is only the #1 biggest online scam going on right now!!!!

If you had searched first you would have found dozens of same question including some who foolishly wired cash and never got a car in return.

Dont become one of those idiots.

Q: Why does my credit union want to charge me sales tax for a used car loan?
I applied to my credit union for a used auto loan and was approved. They then told me I had to pay sales tax on the car for the loan amount which makes no sense to me since this transaction is between two people and doesnt involve the bank anymore than that they are financing my loan and no dealership is involved to pay a sales tax. Does this make sense to anyone or is this normal for bank to make you pay sales tax on an auto loan? My friend who I’m buying the car from is being required to come to the bank with me sign some paperwork as well. None of this makes sense.
I live in the state of California

A: You may be confused. Your state probably requires the collection of sales tax on the sale of a vehicle, and you will likely have to provide proof of the payment tax in order to register the vehicle once you purchase it. Otherwise, I don’t understand the Credit Union’s involvement.

Q: How much are dealers making on a new and used car sale?
I am trying to figure out the lowest price that any dealer can sell a car for. Every time I want to buy a car a dealer goes below sticker price saying that they are loosing money on a sale but are willing to sell anyways. What kind of bullshit is this? I am preety sure they buy it from factory for something around 30% of a price on window. I just need someone that maybe worked for a dealership knows what is going on by answering this question.

A: The average mark up on a used Chevy is $4000. The average target profit is around $1200. We will try to sell you the add ons to juice you for the entire $4000 if we can’t get you to pay the entire $4000 spread with out the add ons.

New cars profits used to be $250, but it has been a while and I sold Used Chevy’s in Dallas off I-635.
New cARS sales employ a lot of tricks to get you to think that you are only paying invoice. The invoice might be real, but there are several “reserves” or “commissions” that are guaranteed to the dealer by the factory to get to this. Only a few people are ever able to negotiate or to “dig” into this profit centre in an effort to get a good deal.

Do not buy the extended warranty. Dump the car in four years.

Good luck!

Q: Used Car Dealers: What’s the average you make on a used car sale?
This is a question for dealers or salesmen with experience in the field.
On average.

A: On an $800 car or a $18,000 car ?

A: CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

Q: Where can i find a good used car for sale near the 75455 area?
Looking for a good used car for sale around the price range $3,000- $5,000 around the Mt.Pleasant,Tx. area or within a 100 mile radius. Type of cars that i’m looking for are Camry, Mustangs, and Mitsubishi from 1998-2004.

A: try searching at Autotrader.com

Q: question about a contract for a privated used car sale?
So I’m am talking to this guy about buying a car and he came up with the agreement for me to pay monthly a certain amount. I found this contract online but don’t know if i would need a lawyer, as i do not have the money. I just want to know the laws for the contract and how you could make the contract legal without a lawyer. I live in north carolina by the way. Thanks

A: Print 2 identical copies.

Take them to Kinkos or your local bank – you need to find a notary and these places almost always have one.

Sign the contracts in front of the notary, and have him/her notarize the contracts.

You keep a copy, the seller keeps a copy.

As a side note, if you are doing this, I STRONGLY discourage making payments unless you get title in your hands. The title would be transferred to your name, with the seller listed as a lienholder. ALWAYS get a receipt for every payment, even if you have to write it on a McDonalds napkin. Never pay a dime unless you get a receipt. Once the full amount of the loan has been paid, the seller signs a lien release, and the car is yours. If the seller will not put the title in your name with him as the lien holder, be very suspicious.

Right now, too many people are selling cars on payments, and they have a loan against the car. You take the car, start making payments, then one day the repo man shows up> If the seller doesnt pay the note, you lose the car and the money you paid. So be very very careful about any arrangement where you do not get the title in hand, with the seller as a lien holder.

Q: Best web site to advertise used car for sale?
Which is the best web site to advertise a used cadillac car for sale in California?

A: I would suggest
www.Craigslist.org
www.CarForSale.IN

Both are Free and work.

Q: Why would a used car for sale by a private owner be missing an inspection sticker?
We are looking for a used car under $2,000, many we have seen have the plates and or inspection stickers removed. What does this mean? Did it fail, should we not even consider a car like this?
p.s. We are in NY state.

A: I can see why a license plates would be missin, I take them off when I sell a vehicle myself now. The past experience being someone will continue to drive the vehicle they bought from you with your lic plates as long as they are valid…..through tow booths without paying, through traffic cameras monitoring speed or red light runners, etc. then you as the lic. plate owner gets a letter for the fine. Big hassel. The only reason (as a seller of vehicles) a state inspection sticker would benifit being removed is if it has a lot of year left on the validation and you want to put it on another car to make it look legal (even this is not legal). Then its a full year before it gets rechecked and less likely to come back on the seller if the emissions doesnt pass. You and the authorities dont know the sticker is invalid for THAT car unless the authorities try to run the bar code or number with the states reference. (some states do put the license number on the state inspection sticker….could be a reason these are missing also).

Q: Does anyone know where i can find a good running used car for sale?
Hi i live in Johnston county and im looking for a nice good running used car priced from $500 to $1500 cash. Do anybody know where i can find one?

A: Check your local newspaper or car lots near your home.

Q: Why does it matter if a used car for sale has a crash record?
I’m looking for a used car and I found one that’s really cheap, low mileage and has nice features.

But mom is freaking out because it probably has a bad crash record.
Why is that a problem?

A: A crashed car can still have many major problems that haven’t been fixed and that are not always visible.

Q: Used car buying, Is there a lemon law on used cars for sale by owner? How do you get a mechanic to look at it?
If you don’t own the car, how can you take the car to have a mechanic look at it? How much does it cost to do this?

A: tell the person that you will not buy the car unless it is checked out by a mechanic if he wants to sell the car he will work out the details about $75 to $100

Q: best web site to advertise used car for sale?
which is the best web site to advertise a used car for sale in California?

A: Try autotrader.com. its great to look at your vehilce to see how much you want to ask for it and look for others you might want to buy.

Q: Can a used car dealership sale me a car without the title?
I bought a car 4 months ago and have been unable to purchase tags for the car because the dealership does not have the title. The night that he sold me car he told me to pick up the title the next day. Each month that I go to pay my car note he reissue me paper tags and new bill of sales. I have been pulled over several times by the police and I am looking suspicious like I am the one doing wrong I was told I would be ticketed if I was pulled over again. What are my rights and what can I do about this?

A: I would tell him either present a title or take the car back and refund my money. If he doesn’t have a clear title the car is not his to sell.

Q: link to laws on used car sale, private sales?
I sold my car and now the buyer is tryign to scam me. I need to research waht his resposnibilites as a buyer in the state of Texas are, and what are mine as the seller. There was no contract. I am simply researching before I go to my attorney.

Thanks for any help.

A: you sold the car as is if he dont know wat to look for the smart thing he should have done was to take somebody that knows about cars to tell him to buy it or not dont let him waste your time if he didnt ask you any questions then its all on him

A: CHeck Out J. Vento Motors in East Orange

www.ventomotors.net

Q: Is it a big concern if a used car for sale has a new transmission?
My wife and I found a 2001Honda Odyssey with 91,000 miles. Everything sounds fine but it has a new transmission. Is that a red flag?

A: You probably should question the owner, about why the transmission went out….

Could have been a bad trans…

could be they towed a 50 foot sailboat with it….

could be they let their 16 year old drive it….

Either of the last two..would be a red flag to me…..

Q: Used cars?
What are the best used cars for teenagers. All i need is something that runs with a radio. How much should i expect to pay for something remotley nice?

A: you can find cheaper cars but if you spend a little more you will save on repairs in the future.

for $4,000

look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissian Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range.

for around $6k an Acura Integra 98-99 is a great car.

Q: used cars?
what are some good used cars to buy? like different makes that are cheap to fix and reliable?
don’t really care how you feel about used cars i’d just like to know some good used car makes Thanks

A: A good used Honda will go over 300,000 miles if you maintain it.

Q: Used Cars.?
Are there any used car dealerships that put up what cars they have for sale and all that online?

A: You can try
http://www.usedcarsinfo.info/
90% off Retail Value.
Good luck!

Q: Whats the difference between new and used cars?
I mean, if you buy a used car you need to pay for things like regular maintenance, car repairs, insurance, gas, vehicle plate and sticker fee, and fuel. But if you buy a new car, you don’t need to pay for car repairs right? How much are car repairs for a used car?
And also if you have time:
How many liters of gas can the Hyundai Accent, Kia Spectra, and Chevrolet Aveo cars respectfully hold?

A: New cars – can allways finance it (pay for it monthly, some used cars you cant do that)
-Dont have to worry bout it breaking down
-has a warranty
-looks way better
-insurance will be better (because it wont be breaking down as much as a used one)

Used cars- Not allways have the choice of financing
-could break down without knowing
-usually has no warranty, if so, little
-parts will start to fall off easier
-depending on car, insurance can be expensive
-Used car salesmen are taught and trained to lie so that you buy the car thinking nothing is wrong with it until the next day stuff starts breaking. (Use craigslist to buy a used car not a dealership for this reason)

In conclusion: If your looking for good insurance – NEW
If your looking for a nice fresh look – NEW
If your looking for a good price – USED
If your looking for a reliable car – NEW or craigslist used
If your looking for a Warranty – NEW
If your looking for financing – NEW

I would get a new car but a low year like 2007 instead of the 2009’s or 10’s
good luck finding a car!!!

Q: How many used cars and public transportation but not bikes?
A survey of 200 students at a nonresidential college was taken to determine how they got to campus during the fall term. Of those surveyed, 118 used cars, 102 used public transportation, and 70 used bikes. 48 students used cars and public transportation, 38 used cars and bikes and 26 used public transportation and bikes. 22 students used all three modes of transportation. How many used cars and public transportation but not bikes?

A: it says it in the question.. 48

Q: What is the best website to buy used cars?
I live in MN and need to start searching for a used car.

Haven’t done it in 2 years and wanna know whats the best sites out there for used cars.

I know I used to use car soup and autotrader.

A: craigslist

Q: What happens to the used cars that goes to big auction?
If the used cars are not sold within time at the Used car lot, they will go to big auction. What happens to the used cars when they go to big auction?

A: they get bought by other dealers at a low price they then put a little cash into it them resale it at there dealership
i’ve been to a few of these auctions you must be a dealer to enter these places i’ve seen people go in and buy 10 to 15 cars its crazy and all at dirt prices

Q: What kind of used cars are good on gas a low cost?
My husband and i are looking for a new car because our other cars are old but we are on a tight budget . We wanted to know which cars are the best. (By the way we want a used car.)

A: Check out the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, etc. I’ve attached links to the top ten most fuel efficient cars for 2003-2005. That should help you find a good used car. (2004 split into Hybrid verusus non-hybrid, but it should still be useful.)

Q: I am planning to import used cars from Dubai to Ethiopia and I am looking for exporters & their procedure?
I am a young salesman here in Addis saling spare parts of differet cars and I am planning to start importing some used cars. But, the problem is I don’t know what the procedure in Dubai could be and I am looking for exporters from dubai to give me the detail info about it and may be give me a chance to visit their collection. I already got importing licence paper and waiting info to make things more clear.

A: Selam new
I am Ethiopian in Japan. I was so surprised when I see this post because i was looking for someone who can import car in Ethiopia.

nani_senay@yahoo.com

Senay ebalalehu
beterefe I will send u my phone number with email.

Q: How much are used cars when buying from car dealers?
What I mean is, how much do cars actually cost with tax, etc. For example, say the used car you want to buy is $6,000. How much do you actually end up paying?

A: Whats your state sales tax ?
Add insurance, registration and inspection to the price and extended warranty if you buy it and off you go.

If your sales tax is say 5% add $50 per thousand to the price of the car. 6% $60.00 and so on.
Insurance will vary with type of coverage, driving records etc, inspection in NY is $45 and 2 year registration (plates) can be $200.00. Your state will vary.

The sales tax you pay once, of course, the DMV fees come back according to regular schedule.

Q: How can I find information on used cars that still have manufacturers’ guarantees in the Philippines?
I have seen some US car magazines offering used cars but with manufacturer’s guarantees. Is there a similar offer anywhere in the Philippines? If so, where and how can the information ba accessed?
Used cars can still have certified manufacturer’s warranties in the USA or Canada but I’m not sure if they have those here in the Philippines. Where and who can I contact?

A: Knowing nothing about the Philippines, I can’t give you specific information, but I would go to any new car dealership, and ask this question. GM for instance, offers “Certified” used cars that are covered by their factory warranty.

Q: Where do I find used cars from private partys on the internet in California?
It seems like everything I find when Im looking for a used car is from a dealership. Where do I look to find used cars from a private party?

A: go to craigslist.com You can buy almost anything for cheap

Q: What is a good site to look for used cars in my area besdies craigs list?
I am looking for a used first car that is some where between 1 and 4k and i have been using mostly craigs list, whats a good place to look for these cars i tried ebay and a few others but they are more for ‘new’ used cars that are mostly 10k and over. Any ideas, craigs list is great i just want more sites to look for cars to open my options.

Thanks a lot.

A: autotrader.com is a good site to buy used cars from. Other than that I would suggest you go to a car auction. You’ll be able to get a car there within your price range.

Q: How Come Used Japanese Cars Are So Popular At Auctions & Dealerships?
I came across some pretty fantastic cars at Japanese auctions but sadly they were out of stock. BTW, how do you find out the quality of cars at used car auctions?

A: Japanese cars are world famous for their quality and testing standards. Add to this the good roads in Japan, the ‘drifting’ culture, and the fact that the Japanese are fanatic about keeping their cars in top shape, and you’ve got a used car market that’s a buyer’s goldmine.

If you’re buying Japanese cars off the used car market, make a note of the Grade that indicates the health of the car. Grade 5 indicates the car is almost brand new while Grade 2 indicates an unsuitable car. Some of the best deals can be found at Grade 3.5 and above.

Q: How much, on average, did used cars cost in the early 1980s?
I mean all together. I know most say that cars vary too much to get an absolute answer, but even an average specific to a model would be fine. Or just what was your experience when shopping for a used car in the early 80s.

A: I am almost 43 now. Graduated from high school in 1984. Got a car junior or senior year. Used Buick Skylark. Very family car, very not cool. Great car. It was $3500 back then. I think it was 4 years old when I bought it. LOVED that car because it was my first and I had to pay for it on my own. My payments were $97.33 per month.
