Used Volkswagen Beetle

Great article and read about: Used Volkswagen Beetle For Sale

Q: How much does a Used Volkswagen beetle cost?
I want to buy a Volkswagen beetle for my first car. Of course it has to be used! What I really want is a light blue convertible beetle, but that probably won’t happen! So, I was wondering how much a 2004,2005, or 2006 beetle might cost?

A: The price will be different depending on where you live. Check the newspaper ads in your area for the best idea of what a used VW will cost. You will usually get a lower price from a private seller but you can’t pay it off over time that way (and no warranty of course).

Also, you can look for one on Craigslist in your city. Ebay lets you set your search limits to within 50 miles of your town, so you could look there for one, too.

Good luck!! : )

Q: How many miles is too many miles when looking to purchase a used Volkswagen Beetle?
If i wanna buy a used beetle, at what milage is too many miles on a beetle? trying to avoid buying one only to have a quick breakdown of a part if that makes sense.

A: Depends on the age of the car and HOW MUCH IT WAS MAINTAINED. My car has almost every nut and bolt and part rebuilt or replaced – so it is as good as new. If it is just driven and gas is the only thing put in, a 2 year old car can be junk.

Q: Does anyone own a used Volkswagen Beetle?
I’m thinking about purchasing a used Volkswagen Beetle in the near future. I just want to know if anyone owns this type of vehicle and what is your overall opinion about this type of car (e.g. maintenance issues, engine, etc). This is my first time buying a car, and I would really appreciate some helpful feedback. Thanks.
A used 2000 VB.

A: I’m going to let you in on a little advise that my son did NOT listen too.

The fuel line running from the fuel pump to the carb is made of rubber (on most, if not all the older models – mine was a 1969 VW ). Well that hose gets hard because of the heat in the engine compartment. Once it gets hard it starts to crack…once it cracks it starts to leak fuel. That fuel ends up getting onto the hot engine parts and before long you have a fire. Those fuel lines are cheap. I suggest you buy 3 foot of it and keep in the trunk….that way you can change it out every 6 months as I did to be on the safe side. My son didn’t…so within the first year I gave it to him…he caught it on fire and blew it up.

The cars are easy to work on and are loads of fun to drive…and very cheap on gas. There are hundreds of ways to modify them with all kinds of cool stuff. So have fun and be safe.

Q: On average, is a used Honda civic more or less expensive than a used Volkswagen beetle?
Can you also give me the benefits of each and the estimated price of each used car? Thanks :)
For the 2008 volkwagon beetle and 2008 Honda civic

A: On average?

What years?

A 1980 Civic compared to a 1971 Beetle?

A 2008 Civic compared to a 2008 Beetle?

1995 Civic vs 1940 Beetle?

You can’t ask for an average on something that has hundreds of variables.

As far as used prices, you didn’t specify years, trim, or anything else.

Making your question completely vague and pointless.

Q: What is the red coil of wire attache to the speedo on my Volkswagen Beetle used for?
There was a red wire coil wrapped around a piece of cardboard with a black plastic cover and it was attached to the gas guage on the speedometer…I think. I removed it, but I’m pretty sure I should reattach it but I’m not sure where or how. I took it out when cleaning the Speedometer. What is it, what wires attach to it, and where does it go?

A: that keeps your speedo from jumping like crazy while driving down the road so you might want to reinstall it

Q: How much can I expect to pay for a Volkswagen Beetle (Used).?
From 1999 t0 2003

Q: What is the Wagner Dot used for in a Volkswagen Beetle?
A two prong cylindrical piece is connected to some wires in y 1970 Volkswagen Beetle. The writing on it appears to say “wagner dot.”
Where do these wires connect, where does the mechanism go, and what does it do?

A: Wagner is the manufacturer, DOT means it is Department of Transportation approved. It’s either a head light relay, possibly a flasher for turn and 4 ways (I doubt it they usually have more prongs and are square), or they key in ignition/seatbelt buzzer. If high and low beam headlights work and turnsignals work, it’s the buzzer. The buzzer is annoying when it works.

Q: Where can i find a cheap used Beetle volkswagen, 1998-2001?

A: no such thing as a “cheap” one

Q: whats the maximum miles a volkswagen beetle can get before it starts having major motor problums?
I’m interested in getting a USED Volkswagen beetle, The older style 1972. Whats the max miles I should be looking for on these cars? 100k? 200k? “100,000miles”"200,000miles”

A: Be prepared to work on it frequently.
Hope you dont have a front end collision as there is no engine in front of you to protect you.

Q: How many miles per gallon does a 2005 turbo volkswagen beetle get?
I am looking into purchasing a used 2005 volkswagen turbo beetle, and although the dealership claims that it gets 36 mpg, I have trouble believing it. Does anybody know what its actual gas milage is?

A: I have owned two New Beetles, both were/are non-turbos, and the best gas mileage I got was 32. I drive like a grandma, seriously. I would expect to get around 25. Unless of course you are talking about a diesel, in which case I would expect 35 to 45, depending.

Q: Where can I buy a used 2000 model of a Volkswagen Beetle for under 5000 dollars.?
im only thirteen but my mom said that when im 17 she’ll buy me a car but she’ll only put up 5000 i know im young but i wanna be prepared for the future and i live in boston also. well at least $500-$7000

A: The car market is going to change a lot between now and then. When you are ready start looking at resources like autotrader.com. craigs list, vwvortex.com and your local newspaper.

Q: Where could I find a used Volkswagen New Beetle at a reasonable price?
I’m a college student, in desperate need of a car. I’m a small sized girl so I decided that i would like something that’s small and “girly”. I really like the VW New Beetles alot- but there aren’t any VW dealerships in the town in which I live. Since I’m a college student, I wouldn’t want a brand new Beetle because I do not want to make payments over a long period of time. I’m trying to find something cheap (preferably >10,000 or >15,000).

p.s. I decided to look online—

A: find a vw dealership near you and call. Some update their websites with prices, so you can see about how much.
i used yahoo auto to help find some also.
most i found are 11,000.

Q: What is the lifespan of a Volkswagen Beetle (automatic transmission) years 1998 through 2008 used?

A: Lifespan depends on how the car was maintained before you get it,and how you keep it up after you own it.
Just traded for a 1998 Beetle with 140,000 miles. It looks and runs great.Lady bought it new and did all the scheduled maint. She never had a problem.Have many other customers with equal results.Know the service history, and keep it maintained. It will run for a very long time.

Q: How much for and old Volkswagen Beetle?
How much would I be looking to pay for a used, working, old version Volkswagen Beetle in Australia?
I already know that they do not work well, I would like a estimate on how much i might pay.

A: Lots of them here.Click the classified button then look on the left side of the screen and narrow it down a bit. Once you have done that, then click the search button and you can narrow it down further: price, state, and so on….Have fun..
