Q: should I get a NEW civic si or a USED 2006 pontiac gto?
Please don’t answer unless you have knowledge of both cars please. Thank you!!
oh the gto has 25,000 miles!
A: wow, those are really on opposite ends of the spectrum. People who have Honda’s seem to love them. I had one for a short time but didn’t like it. The GM V8 engines are solid, so I don’t think reliability will be a determining factor here. You should really just get what you want. The GTO looks really nice and is a little less common. Are you more comfortable with rear wheel drive or front? I personally like RW drive. Do you have to deal with snow during the winter months? if so a Front wheel drive might be better. (Unless your like me and love the power slides!) Also the SI will get better gas mileage, something to consider for when the price goes back up. It’s really going to be about which style of car you like best, American muscel? or Import tuner?
Q: what is the cost of a used 2006 pontiac gto?
also what is the top speed of a 2006 gto with and without a limiter
A: go to kbb,com for the price
Q: my 04 pontiac gto isnt putting out heat like it used to.?
the heat isnt as hot as it was about a year ago. im thinking its the thermostat. how often are thermostats typically changed? my car has 48,000 miles and is well maintained?
A: Water boils at a higher temperature than antifreeze, so its important, too use the right mixture of coolant to water. Their are 2-different types as well, use the one for your particular car. Make sure you check the exact freeze point mixture, this will effect heat effeciency. use a syphon type gage thru the resorviour after your car has operated for awhile, and the fluid is well mixed. this gage will determine the protection level, and operating temp. (if it doesnt match the thermostat)ie. is pure water, your themostat may never close, if the mixure is too much antifreeze your thermostat may open much less frequently,(usually 50/50 mixture) and still not be hot enough, in addition you probably have an electric fan which also has an operating temp. range, based on a sensor in the radiator, somewhere at the bottom. Lastly remove the leaves or anything, that may be blocking, your heater core, and you may want too reverse flush your system. I had a car one time where it kept overheating, and I wonder if the heater core was at fault, because I was only getting cool air out, even when the car overheated. The problem was their was no circulation in the system, because the heater core was plugged, calcified and rusted internally. Good Luck!
Q: Could I build a replica Lamborghini using a supercharged 05′ Pontiac GTO engine?
As in could I take a replica already built and just put in a GTO engine? The power of 600hp would be there and it’d look just like any Lamborghini except alot alot alot cheaper.
A: Of course you could. It would be a lot more reliable than a Lambo too, just wouldn’t sound as good.
Q: what’s the difference between the pontiac gto & pontiac firebird (or pony car & muscle car)?
im looking to buy a used car and im trying to figure out what is the difference between the two and why they are seperated into two differnt car classes. Im looking to buy a used no older than 1998 and its between a chevrolet camaro, ford mustang, pontiac firebird, or pontiac gto. thanks in advance.
A: A pony car is smaller than a muscle car. A muscle car is a mid size, 2 door family car with a big block V8 in it. Like the GTO was a LeMans with a high output 400 V8. And most muscle cars had bucket seats, consoles, gauge package and 4 speed sticks.
A pony car has a smaller wheelbase and is shorter in overall length. It came in two versions, the mom & pop with a 6 cylinder or a small block V8. And the muscle version with a high output big block V8. Pony cars were never thought of as a family car, which muscle cars were based on. There were always considered to be a sporty car, although not quite a sports car since they had a back seat.
Q: How to unlock or remove a 2004 Pontiac GTO rotors?
I need to turn the rotors on my car but they are locked. How can I unlock them or remove them? I bought the car used and do not have a manuel. Thank you for your help.
A: They’re rusted on the wheel bearing hubs. Tap the inside out with a 1-2 lb. maul as you turn the rotors. When they “pop” loose the inside surface of the wheel studs must be thoroughly cleaned with a flat circular mandrel mounted brush in a battery or electric 3/8 drill motor. Do the same to the inner mating surface of the old rotors if you intend to use them again. When the old or new rotors are ready to go back on paint the lug-stud surface with Never Seize so the rotors don’t stick again.
*You’ll need a special square hollow tool with drive ears from NAPA or Carquest for your specific car. Turn screw clockwise the rear brake pistons back inside the calipers. It fits in side a 3/8 short extension with a drive ratchet. Buy the black colored hardened tool as the bright shiny one is an cheap off-shore piece of crap that will break easily.
Q: I really like the Pontiac GTO. This would be my second car. What other options do I have?
I want a sporty looking car or a pick up truck. Not looking to spend alot of money. Possibly 25k. Used cars would be fine. Reliability is a must. Any other options for me? Thanks
A: I would highly recommend a 2003-2007 Honda Accord EX V6 coupe. It comes with 240hp from the VTEC engine, has navigation, voice activated and touch screen controls, LED dash display, 6 speed manual tranny, dual chrome exhuast, 17″ wheels, tuned suspension, 6 disc cd changer with premium 6 speaker audio, big trunk with 60/40 split fold down seats, and I average 26mpg in mine. I also have 105K miles on mine and have not had 1 major problem, and very very few minor issues. It is a great vehicle. The versatility is nice, you can get either sedan or coupe, with either 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engines that are both powerful and fuel efficient. For THe EX V6 coupe is top of hte line.
For 25K you could probably get an entry level 2008 Accord, which is an all new design. The V6 has 270+hp and shuts off some cylinders during highway driving for great gas mileage.
These cars don’t offer the crazy performance of the GTO, but they are still very quick cars, and they deliver a much smoother ride, and can handle extremely better as well. They will also be much more reliable, and have a much higher resale value. The GTO has a 6.0L engine which gets horrible mileage! You would not be disappointed in the Accord.
Other nice choices are the Acura TL (similar to the Accord but more luxurious, the type S has tons of power), or TSX which has the same exact interior as the EX or EX-L models of the Accord, but it looks a little sportier for a 4 door.
If you like american, I would suggest the Pontiac G6 GT or GXP, both nice cars with great performance, Pontiacs in general are not too reliable, but the G6 is thebest out of htem all.
Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda, Subaru are what I recommend. IF you love the power of the GTO consider a used WRX STi?
Good Luck
Q: What would the insurance be per month for an 18 year old male driving a 1969 pontiac GTO?
Living in woodbridge Ontario, not looking for an exact quote but an estimate…pleasee help..the car is used obviously
A: Using google to find some related info or you could try using answer engines such as yahoo answer or yedda.com to obtain some useful ideas.however,If you want some direct information, here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm is a nice one from my experience.
Q: What kind of gas does a 04 Pontiac GTO take?
Ok, so i’m currently in the market for a new car and I’ve fallen in love with the GTO. But I’m not sure what kind of gas it takes. I’ve been told that it’s premium unleaded. I hope not!! That gas is exspensive. And would it be ok to use mid grade gas? I want to find out before I get the car and mess it up by putting in the wrong fuel.
A: Once again people, if you don’t know don’t answer…
The recommended fuel for the GTO is Premium. But as someone posted, the computer will adapt to lower octane. I run regular in my GTO all the time and it’s fine.
Sorry to disagree w/ you spinner, but the knock sensor is part of the engine control system. If you’re going to nitpick…
And regular will NOT build up carbon faster than premium. In fact, the reverse is true. Regular actually burns hotter than premium, which is why you can’t advance the ignition timing or bump up the compression in the first place.
GM says ‘recommended’, not ‘required’. They are the experts, I’ll defer to them, thank you!
Q: where can i find a program to put ground effects and paint on my 1973 Pontiac GTO, like in need for speed?
I have a 73 GTO that I would like to put ground effects, hood scoops, and spoiler on but I want to see what it looks like first. Is there a program i can use here on my PC to do this?
A: why ruin a GTO with this crap, if you want to it to look like a honda civic just buy one and sell the GTO to someone who will give the car the respect it deserves!
Q: What would a 1968 Pontiac GTO be worth today?
All original stuff, very rarely used (less than 30k miles), perfect condition. What would it be worth today?
A: $30,000.00
Q: I am looking for a 2005 or 2006 Pontiac SLP 455 Bobcat GTO to buy,new or used.?
Black is color of choise and an auto trans. if available. The closer to San Diego,Ca. the better.
A: The product SLP 455 BOBCAT GTO, is a package offered to upgrade a GTO. It’s basically up to you whether you want to install that package…on a new or used gto. To find one with the package is gonna be rather difficult, because they dont come out of factory or are bought just like that. My opinion is to buy a used gto that’s been taken care of and buy the package. You can find the package by searching for it on google…or marylandspeed.com offers it for 3500. It comes with everything you need for the upgrade to 455. Now remember that probably could be flywheel hp and not rwhp. If it is just flywheel then your only gonna get 420 really to the rwhp, just ask them to be sure. Hope this helps….
Q: what type of adhesive do you use on a 2005 pontiac gto rear glass?
A: Go to a glass shop and ask for the adhesive system to reinstall a back-glass. It should include at least two tubes of urethane sealant and any primers that go with the system.
Q: Can the 2004 Pontiac GTO take regular unleaded fuel?
I’ve posted this question once before but all I’ve gotten was technical answers. I’m looking to get a 2004 Pontiac GTO in the middle of June. But with the way gas prices are I’m not sure. So, I’m wondering if the Goat will run off of regular unleaded? I just need a simple yes or no. I want a car that is great for performance and pretty well on fuel that’s under 18k (used). I don’t think the gto gets that bad fuel economy. It’s better than the new G8. Let me know if it will and if your a owner of a GTO, which fuel you used, and for how long? Oh! and if you’ve had any problems. I look forward to your responses
A: Justin…..u can use reg fuel….but this will be bad for the engine after a period of time…..we have customers that own goats and have tried regular fuel…..but they always go back to the hi-test fuel…….why buy a car like this if the price of fuel is such a big concern for u? ……there are plenty of other cars that are fun to drive and look good that run on regular gasoline….or buy the goat and buy a hooptie for everyday use and you and the goat only get together to take a drive on the weekends or on special nights …….that’s what we do here….this helps me and my cars in two ways……helps me by saving some gas money…helps save my cars from the wear and tear of everyday driving…witch can be brutal….good luck
Q: Which kind of car should I get?
I want to keep this car for a very very long time.
new honda civic sedan ex- suns roof, cheap gas, cute
used pontiac gto- stick shift, fast, attract guys
which one should i get.
The GTO is an 05
A: If you plan on keeping the car a long time, I’d say go with the Honda since it will be more reliable in the scope of the term you’re keeping the car. You will usually have to put a lot less maintenance in the Honda vs the Pontiac. One other thing, the Honda Civic will have better resale value too. So keep that in mind when you make your decision.
If you were keeping it short term (2-3 yrs), then it would be a harder decision.
