Dodge Challenger Review
Great article and read about: Dodge Challenger Review
Q: how roomy is the 2009 dodge challenger?
like i watch a view reviews of the dodge challenger, it actually look quite roomy inside for a sports car. i use to have 93′ camaro and it was hell inside. like i saw one review and a 6ft guy can sit comfortably in the back. and it would be nice to have a sports car with a nice back seat, …ladies haha
A: its roomier than it looks like it would be,my neighbor bought a new one and took delivery of it about 6 weeks ago,and i have drove it,it rides and drives really good, and has lots of room,he,s about 6″4 and I’m about 5″7 inches tall and neither one of us had a problem getting comfortable driving it,i can tell you this its under rated as to how fast it will run, they run and drive and ride really good,i don’t think the new camaro will stand a chance against this one, dodge out did their self on this one, good luck
Q: 2009 Dodge Challenger reliability?
I am thinking about trading my car in for a challenger. But it being an american car has me worried. I don’t want to buy a car that is going to be constantly breaking down on me and costing me thousands of dollars in service.
So my questions is for guys who have own dodges, especially the new challengers, if you had any problems with it. I know I would have to get the regular maintenance done, like oil changes, brake changes and other routine services. But what I want to know is that if I am going to be able to use the car for a few years without me having to put a new transmission or engine in it. Also the other components in the car like the engine & transmission mounts, water pumps, etc.
I dont know much about cars but everyone I have talk to so far has told me that dodge does not have any good reliability. Also the reviews online for the challenger has given it 2 out of 5 stars for reliability.
I would appreciate any advice from people who have gone through it. Thanks in advance
I am not going to drive it fast or anything. Its only going to be drive to and from work and college and maybe sometimes around town. I dont like fast cars but something about the challenger is very appealing.
A: Dodge has always been plagued with poor quality control. You’d never see a five year old Chevy, Ford, or even Hyundai blowing blue, but you see Chryslers doing that all the time. Poor build quality, malfunctioning accessories, all part and parcel with owning a Chrysler product.
Don’t get me wrong, the Challenger seems like a great straight-line muscle car. But you have to decide what is important. If you abuse it, it means that things are more likely to break. Also consider Chrysler’s abysmal resale value…
Fast, cheap, reliable. You can only pick two.
Q: Is anyone else extremely diapointed with the new dodge challenger?
I am a Ford guy first and a Dodge guy second. I own a 2004 cobra but my absolute dream car is a Dodge Viper Venom twin turbo. I was so excited for the Challenger to come out and I have the most respect possible for Dodge since they now offer a lifetime power train warranty. Talk about standing behind your product, that is awesome. I have read the reviews that came out this month for the Challenger and I believe Dodge made the car too darn heavy. It has 425hp and I believe 420tq but it runs a 13.5 1/4 mile which is not any faster then the 300hp mustang. This is because the darn thing has a curb weight of like 4175lbs. If they would have just cut like 400lbs off it, it would be a 12 second car and I would be getting one the first day they were at the dealership. I am just really frustrated with the fact that they are so heavy. I love the 425hp, I love the warranty, and I love the way the look (amazing). Does anyone else feel my pain? Anyone have any words of encouragement?
I just wanted to comment on the answers I have received so far. Out of all the questions I have asked and all the ones I can remember reading the answers I have received for this question so far are the best I have ever seen from the group as a whole. Almost every answer is fact based instead of a bias opinion based answer, they are all very informative answers, and they do not involve bashing other car makers. I just wanted to express my thanks and say how impressed I am with the answers I have received. When the time comes, it will be near impossible to choose a “best answer”.
A: I understand what you mean. The problem is that the average auto consumer has an ever increasing expectation of vehicle refinement. Cars are continually getting larger and heavier in response. We have reached a point that it’s simply easier for automakers to add horsepower instead of reducing weight.
Unfortunately the American car market is addicted to big horsepower and big weight. It’s time for enthusiasts to start focusing on power-to-weight ratios instead of just raw power. But that’s not likely to happen soon. Not as long people believe that more power is automatically “better”.
As a side not, I have a ‘71 Datsun 510 that ways less than half of a new Challenger…
Q: Are Yokohama Parada Spec-X good for a 2009 Dodge Challenger?
The tires are going to be staggered 245/45/20 and 275/40/20. Is this a good performance all season tires for this car? Does any one have any reviews about this tire?
thanks
A: Go to www.tirerack.com On that website type in the tire sizes that you need and it will give you a list of tires available in that size. This webiste is awesome because it provides customer reviews and ratings along with a lot of information on the tires themselves.
Q: Is it just me or does the 08 Challenger have downs syndrome?
I really think the new challenger looks like it has downs.

A: i kind of think it looks like a 71 more than a 73 model, their having to redesign that thing every year to keep up with the changes they make to it,but it doesn’t look all that bad ,not yet anyway.good luck.

Q: how many of u think this car is king
ok i have a dispute that i can`t settle can u the online community voice your opinions me and this guy disagree he says the new mustang can blow the doors off the new dodge challenger i say the exact opposite u take a look at the challengers specs for your self note these are from car and driver so i belive these will be pretty damn accurate.

A: the Challenger is definitely a beast, and is quicker than the mustang by far but keep in mind Dodge has only released the SRT8 version of the Challenger so you cant really compare it to a Mustang GT.. for that comparison you’ll need the Challenger R/T which wont be out for a little while.. i’d be interested to see the GT500 vs Challenger SRT8..
but, you are right and your friend is wrong because the SRT8 would kill a stock Mustang GT
Q: Which is the best used car I can get for under 15k in the US, location not an issue?
That’s my budget–15,000, give or take a couple. Also, I have a few restrictions like lower mileage, not older than say 2003, must be a coupe, and so on. I’ve looked online and compiled a list from people’s reviews, mags and even top gear. This is a rather large set, and I’m looking to eventually trim it down to maybe 4 or 5 cars and pick from those.
What I want from my car:
This is important to know, if you want to make a good suggestion. I’m a 24 year old, fresh out of college into a well paying job on the West coast. I am young, and I have everything to prove. I would rather NOT be just another desi, and go for the obvious Toyota. I can always buy a family car later, this is my FIRST CAR!
I don’t mind public transport, been using it for years. But when I want to drive from A to B, I want to do it in style. It’s gotta have substance too, a good feel, that vibe you know, when the car chooses you
And finally, I know I’ve probably overshot my budget with this list. I encourage you to put me in my place, and maybe even go so far as to make your own suggestion. Thanks for your input, and 10 points to the most thought-out reply with some real-world advice. Peace.
Chevy Camaro, Cobalt
Ford Mustang, Mustang GT
Mazda RX-8
Mitsubishi Eclipse, Evo,
Nissan 350Z/370Z
Audi A3, A4, S4
Infiniti G35/37
Hyundai Genesis
Dodge Charger, Challenger
PS: Is it true that if I’m gonna pay anything over 15 grand, I might as well get a new car?
A: haha wow these people.
crx dude shut up. go outside
audi’s = lots of problems my friends owned them 2 brothers a8 and a4 i think but they both had problems..
the 3 series sounds nice. trust me i considered buying one, but if somethings breaks down your gonna be in a shit hole because their a bitch to find replacement parts for under 2 bills for any part.
and the other person, yeah you could buy a new car for under 15k but it would probably be a focus or something. who would really want that. no offense to focus owners.
personally i’ve always disliked mustangs because they always have dumb/bad drivers. so many of my buds have been hit by someone driving a mustang. and i got a door ding from one(:x!!!)
the camaro and cobalt both sound nice honestly. good american cars. cobalt good gas. camaro american muscle my dad owns 3. one done(built ground up from frame only) one just frame and one with body but needs work
the rx-8s also in my opinion are good cars but i have never owned one
the evo’s are nice but never been my style so thats for you to decide.
the charger if you can find one for that price id say buy it. also badass cars. challengers..i know 3 ppl that own them and their all retards. plus my brother got hit by someone driving one. but i guess their comfortable inside.
now mitsubishi eclipse ive owned one. and i hit a tree. head on going about 60mph. the airbag saved my life i know it. so reliable cars. yeah they have their small problems but what car doesnt. if you dont mind messing with small things about a day a week then you’ll love it. which is how it was for me alot of ppl complain bc all the constant upkeeps but really its very minor stuff.
now onto the bad boys!! 350z g35 and 370z. well 350z is going to be my next car
after i get out of this bed from the accident(broke femur only been a month and im almost walking look it up. thats amazing time. and its bc the eclipsegt i swear) 350z’s tho. great horsepower mean lookin ride babe magnet and alot of potential. which is why i love it :p 370 if i could afford and if the lights were like the 350 i would buy it. but their not still mean looking ride though. g35. seems more like the eclipse and honestly bc of cost and gas mileage i would buy a eclipse over a g35. it would save money in the long run bc eclipses get great gas mileage yes even the gt. tell me 28mpg isnt good for a 3.0 215hp car. which is quick as shit btw
the genisis. idk i saw one at the chicago car show i think but i dont know anything about them really. so your on your own there do some research, so i dont have to tell you everything ha.
my 4 or 5 would be 350z, camaro, cobalt, charger, and eclipse if i put myself in your shoes wanting to shorten the list.
crx dude is also retarded bc he cant read. your out of college so enjoy life have some fun id say buy a fast car but keep out of trouble. or try to
you say you want advice. i say buy import or buy muscle. anything in-between is for spectators

A: Considering its based off the same platform, and has the same drivetrain as the charger and 300C, you can use that as guess for reliability. The Charger and 300C don’t have any major issues due to using Mercedes parts. It being American has nothing to do with it, its all perception anyway.
